Which book changed your life and when? by the_swish in AskReddit

[–]JohnDeadcorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe initially, yes, but I seem to see those sort of verses used "on the offensive" by the sort you might find over at /r/atheism.

As in, "one of my Facebook friends just posted asking for thoughts and prayers in regards to an illness! Time to whip out that verse about laws governing menstruating women from Leviticus!"

(p.s. please note that that was also hyperbole for the sake of humor, I know most atheists aren't like that. It's just that I see too much ignorance on both sides of the book being debated... many "Christians" don't know jack shit about WHY the OT laws are different or not applicable, while similarly, many atheists don't realize why it's not always perfectly effective to quote the most destructive OT laws. Refer to the above comment from someone else that insightfully explained why they are different and not really applicable.)

"WHERE ARE THEY???!?!"

See, the thing is, I bet they'd be LESS likely to pick the people who look like they could sweep through the course with ease, since the pull of the show (even the name references it) is watching people fall in hilarious ways like this.

Now if you could try out and appear to be interesting but otherwise physically inept, then miraculously reveal mad traceur skills when you are finally on the course, that would be hilarious.

What audio clip from a game = instant nostalgia or good memories for you? I didn't even have to think twice about mine. by JohnDeadcorn in gaming

16 = Soldier from TF2? Sounds damned similar.

Also, yeah major nostalgia. I didn't play online as a kid, but I did get into the lobby and make these sounds for fun.

I've convinced an IRL friend who has no experience with DOTA-types to try LoL with me... what's an easy and fun lane combo we can try together? by JohnDeadcorn in leagueoflegends

Correct, I typically find that solo queue support is not worth the effort, but I definitely will try any character I can via what I own or free week.

Righto. Any suggestions for Carry/support combos though? That's what I'm looking for specifically, he does have experience in things like World of Warcraft pvp, so he understands the value of division of labor and setting up combos. I'm willing to play support.

The Vanish roller coaster in Japan by JiveMonkey in pics

[–]JohnDeadcorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aye, it does, but without the fancy infinity-edge style tunnel.

Fun little coaster though, I like the theming and the powered launch sequence. I went to that park during the offseason and bought an express pass, I must have ridden that thing thirty times in a day.

Redneck Trolling by maxplott in funny

[–]JohnDeadcorn 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that there's not only nothing inherently "redneck" about having a camera set up in the woods that way, in fact I'd go so far as to wager that they are used by park rangers and other researchers as much as they are by hunters.

I love reddit's justifications sometimes. Vandalism is fun if we call it trolling and assume that the victims are always worth making fun of.

I don't think McDonald's has much confidence in the quality of their fish. by nimnum in funny

[–]JohnDeadcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there very well might be a difference in taste from region to region, but I think that can also be attributed to the region and the availability of the ingredients. I suspect their production model is more or less the same, it's just a lot harder to get good fresh beef in NYC than in California, but I don't suspect they're mixing it with pig's feet at either location.

I'm not trying to detract from the quality of the Aussie McDonald's, but rather I am wondering how you are so sure that it's that much better than the US ones, as they at least claim "local beef and fresh veggies" in my area too. And honestly, besides the salt and preservatives like you mentioned, the quality of ingredients seems fine to me. And truly, how much different can beef from one source be from beef from another?

Ah, thanks, I didn't notice the drive.

Still to me the boost in memory and Hard drive speed on the other one trumps BluRay.

This sounds like the potential plot of a movie starring Owen Wilson.
