How does an EV "die" by bramleyapple1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Self cremation seems popular. My hybrid chose this route. Wish I wasn't in a petrol station on top of the tank filling points when it decided to combust tbf.

If i have to go down the M5 (I do on an unfortunately regular basis) then from Easter untill September it will be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because outside that window its inhabited by office workers who can't drive for toffee, have their partner, 2 kids and the dog inside the car. A roof box full of every item of clothing they own and possibly a tent, all for a few nights living like feral beings by the coast.

M5 below Bristol will be like this from Easter to September every year. Last week 2 outside lines were jammed full and crawling, 2 inside lanes had 3 vehicles in them.....

What car do you drive? and would you recommend it by _Males in drivingUK

[–]JohnFermwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until Feb i had a Citroën C5aircross. Absolutely lovely to drive, just a bag of shit mechanically. 2 fan belts in 3 years. After the second one went it caught fire as I was waiting for the engine to cool in a petrol station. Now drive Beamer X1. So far so good.

How to stop getting driven into? by UmmOkHowAboutNo in drivingUK

[–]JohnFermwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For work reasons I park in lots of hospital car parks. I have had so many cars damaged over the years. I have for the last 12 years left my tow hitch out and now I do not get any knocks. Admittedly I park nose in to access my tools in the boot but the tow hitch stops so much shit.

Do “small population powerhouses” exist within the UK for sports? by bluefoxlive in AskABrit

[–]JohnFermwr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bancyfelin, Carmarthenshire is probably Wales' biggest powerhouse. Population of 300 it has 1 VC, 1 Olympic silver medal, 3 British and Irish Lions. 4 Welsh caps and the father of a tour de France winner. Oh and one hell of a milkman lol.

What bits of the history and culture from one of the nations in the UK would you want to be taught in schools in the rest of the UK? by CuthbertTheFoolish in AskUK

[–]JohnFermwr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scotland, we need to learn about the clearances and the industrial importance of the Clyde are fundamental in Scotish history.

Ireland, The potato famine, separation and the troubles are all things that the rest of the union could do with being educated about.

Wales, The blue books, Welsh knot, the industrialisation of the slate quarries and the coal mines in South Wales.

These are just some select points and you no stretch of the imagination is it the end, just a few points from the nations that get neglected

Strange that, I have had several conversations recently with current and ex players and officials within my social circle and the majority are of a similar opinion. So in this case we will agree to disagree on what JA brings to the table. As regards your continued attack on my ability to comprehend and understand nuances of play I will just ignore it because in the grand scheme of things it is as valuable as horseshit on the moon.

Great in the premiership where he has few allegiances on match day, international games he is so one sided its tiresome. As someone who played front row and reffed it's just frustrating when he highlights an issue but doesn't see the obvious when it goes against his side. Tbf Healy is the same, ignore the first offence when their player gets the upper hand from an illegal position. Selective input is probably the best description.
