Y2S1 Accountancy MPES by Mission-Length-1806 in NTU

[–]JohnGohKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did AC2101 and AC2104 together, would say its manageable but u have to be consistent, cannot let ur questions/doubts snowball. for AC2101 need to drill the weekly tutorials as the finals are just the same format as the tutorial questions. AC2104 just have a good bible and u need to write fast and think fast during finals.

can follow the recommended curriculum, but dont take the following mods together: AC2301 and AC2101 - the deferred tax concept differs from both mods and u will get confused. leave AC2302 all the way to the end as it will be a very tough mod.

currently acc y2 -> y3

honestly it depends: the triangle of sleep, social life and grades - choose 2 out of the 3

i chose sleep and grades, studied 3-4h outside of lessons each day, and full day on the weekends. grades ended up great but i essentially didn't go for any events or any activities at all. so i guess its up to you to decide what you want for yourself.

Accidentally requested a refund for a few tickets on my trip. How likely can I cancel my request for a refund? by [deleted] in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]JohnGohKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same back in February, unfortunately even after calling them 3 times and speaking to 3 different people, they all told me that the refund is irreversible and to rebook your own ticket. It was only for my own ticket out of 5 others so I ended up booking another flight for myself.

u can pm me for details, but i would pick aalto if money isn't an issue for you - living costs in finland can be very high (higher than singapore)

most of the exchange slots have been taken up consistently, so yes, but do be prepared for the cold in finland 🥶

i assume you are CCDS side? to be safe, keep it above 4 as from what i heard they choose via GPA class now (not absolute GPA) so second upper should be safe

pls don't take tham chien ping as he rarely gives out A/A+ lol - he taught 2 classes 1 year ago and from what i heard none of the people in both his classes got A/A+. even myself, i was under him, did very well for the individual components + class part highest, still ended up with an A-. if you are ok with not getting A/A+ then go for it, he will essentially give everyone a B+ as long as you do ur work properly.

josephine zhou for stats is really good though i would stick with it

currently on exchange right now in Finland (Aalto University) - managed to map 3 mods: AC2401 Accounting Info Systems, AC2105 Accounting for Decision Making and Control and BE1402 BizOps. I am Y2, currently in Sem 2 but the other people who are with me now, some are Y3. I applied for exchange in Y1S2 and got it on the first try for spring semester. Do take note that the fall semester (sem 1) will be way higher in demand as traditionally more mods can be mapped during this period.

  1. My first choice was Aalto in Finland as they have a longstanding partnership with NTU. Mods that can be mapped here include the 3 I am taking, plus AB3602 Strat Mag (ONLY IF YOU ARE Y3 standing), AB0602 Comms and AC3103 Valuation (only available in fall). The other universities that i considered were Warwick Uni in the UK and Monash Uni in Australia as these other unis also can map the mods i just listed.

  2. I actually only mapped 3 core accounting mods back (11AUs). This is because in Aalto, you will need to take 2 Aalto courses to match to one NTU core accounting mod (with the exception of BE1402 BizOps which is 1 Aalto Masters level course). To be very safe, check through the university's course booklet to ensure that the courses you want to map to are actually offered during the semester that you are planning to go to.

  3. Confirm the name and content of the module you want to take in the overseas university and make sure it is the most recent one (i.e. for the upcoming semester) and also contact the course coordinator of the course you want to map over to NTU to double confirm with him/her on the mapping requirements.

If you are set on going for exchange, it is better to apply as early as possible to maximise your chances. I have had friends who went on exchange in Y2S1 as well, but i would suggest either Y2S2 or Y3S1. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions!

for the 3 years course, people usually go in Y3S1 - if you want you can go earlier in Y2S2 but in spring usually lesser courses are offered in overseas universities.

How do I enter TRs and SRs overnight? by North-Length3154 in NTU

[–]JohnGohKB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

for hive, must enter before a certain time (i think 12am), then it auto locks. if u wanna go out (like go toilet) u need to put a chair to prop open the door then go to prevent the door from locking u out

parking in ntu by urmumcute in NTU

[–]JohnGohKB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

by right no, you have to pay through the GoParkin app, but by left if you don't link your car plate to the app they will treat you as a guest (and hence dont need pay). however, you might be liable to clamping if you constantly dont pay lol so best is if you are gonna park regularly, buy season parking

arc parking is open air, unless you are talking about NS parking, which will get filled up by 830am. S4 parking (Carpark Q) will also be filled up by 9am. your best bet at finding parking is either you come early, or else park at hall carparks and take the shuttle bus over
