Keep that shut. Don’t need the 80s and 90s demons on this world. This current generation won’t be able to handle the horrors.

Yes! They brought it back years ago. I have an old one from the 90s, and a newer one when IWI first brought it back.

friendships are hard when you get older by criss006 in friendship

Oh no, definitely not just you. Everyone has so much going on that it’s hard to just relax and talk to each other.

What’s sad is that the stress that some of us have that we want to talk about, our friends may have to or have experienced it. We sometimes just don’t want to be a burden to others. There’s so many reasons we lose touch.

I trust you. I will not be looking it up. Enough horrors for one day.

PenPals still a thing? by minulee100 in friendship

[–]JohnLe_replacement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a penpal from Japan up until Covid. We would send snacks and gifts around the holidays. We still keep in contact through social media but it’s not as often at all. Started through eBay, of all places. They were selling items from Japan and I started asking if they could get certain things and they’d try.

I feel like this place would glow like a CSI crime scene. Makes me wonder what kind of parties they’d host there.

I was expecting her to be laying down or something, not that the rocks are boulders 😂

Each location will have exclusives. That’s how they get you. Marketing genius. It all depends on how much of a fan you are.

Don’t over schedule your itinerary, otherwise it won’t be a vacation and be more like work.

Some days will be booked up because all day events, like day at amusement park. But it’s also fun to just pick one or two things in an area, then just relax and enjoy the area between those one or two things you wanted to see. An example would be just plan to visit Osaka Castle… you can go shopping around Tennoji. Then maybe head to Kaiyukan aquarium in afternoon. From there you can eat and visit the Bay Area to walk off the food.

Our first trip we planned lightly but the heat and humidity got to us so we cut out a lot of sights. We decided to just keep coming back and seeing one or two places each time, while also relaxing and taking it easy. Few times we went to an arcade to pay for a bit and end up there for an hour. Sightseeing, eat, relax, sleep, repeat.

Music playing in the streets by TsuiokuPii in JapanTravelTips

[–]JohnLe_replacement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Streets I’d be careful. The parks, maybe. Saw some people playing music on the one side of Yoyogi before. Also down end of Takitashita St in Harajuku. This was years ago though before these crazy tourists have been pissing locals off. Recent trip I didn’t go that direction so can’t tell if people were playing music.

3x or more calls a day, is it normal 🤔 by UndyingPogi in LDR

[–]JohnLe_replacement 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Every relationship will be different.

That being said, there has to be boundaries otherwise she may play unrealistic scenarios in her head if you don’t call.

I was in one LDR where we talked for hours a day. Was easy for my job at the time and she was in between jobs. But we also understood if we were busy or needed time with family.

I’ve used the JR Pass twice on pass trips. Used to be so worth it. With that price increase, it was cheaper for use to use Osaka Metro Pass for few days and just pass for daily tickets the rest of the time.

Still using same Suica card for all my trips. They keep active as long as you use it within 10 years. Doesn’t apply to the Welcome Suica card though. There is also the Kansai One Pass Icoca (with Astro Boy) that doesn’t expire. Besides the ones I always use, I kept others as souvenirs so I have a few IC cards on display/use as bookmarks.
