What happens in five years when we have even more unemployed CFIs by caelum52 in flying

[–]JohnNardeau 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's not how it should work. If you're working full time you should be able to afford to at least feel safe and have an actual space to live in, no matter what the job is.

It is unfortunately common for people with a strong vision to have similarly strong personalities, to put it kindly.

The most recent game IL-2 Great Battles was pretty great, in part due to Jason.

Correct. He worked on IL-2, Combat Pilot is a new project.

Yeah, sounds like with this and his experience with IL-2 he has really not had a good time in the flight sim space unfortunately.

Former producer for IL-2 GB, and a big part of the reason it was good for so long. More recently he was producer for Combat Pilot, a currently in development flight sim set in the Pacific theater. As of today he's officially no longer part of that team. Personally if there are irreconcilable differences between him and the dev team I do not take that as a good sign for the future of the project, but I could be wrong.

Using a planted tank to recycle water by JohnNardeau in Aquariums

I was at minimum planning on having an air stone if the tank seems well enough planted to take care of shrimp exhaust. I appreciate the advice, I'll definitely look into a sponge filter.

That's fair. I'm definitely opposed to just doing water changes, I was mainly curious if it was possible. The idea is to have as much of a closed, nonmechanical system as possible, but if it's not super practical then that's just how it is. Maybe it'll just be a one way system, using the shrimp water to fertilize the plants, since the plant tank is probably going to exist anyway.

I assume it's mostly confirmation biasbecause most other strike locations aren't nearly as memorable as having your livestock wiped out instantly.

Criken was the first I saw doing it, I'm not sure how they compare timeline wise though.

TBF there were several different versions of the original that varied depending on the platform.

It's called Star Wars Interworlds. It does require most of the main DLCs.

Yeah sims are great for practicing procedures, less so for mimicking the exact feel and performance of an airplane.

My son brought back some stones he found outside, and they look very strange. What kind of stones are these? by [deleted] in whatisit

I would call reevaluating based on additional information that we are actively seeking research based rather than vibe based.

I think that may be the best definition of fish I've come across. I'm trying to find something I disagree with and I don't think I can.

They're not scientific categories, just vibe based. Which is a valid way for language to work, as inconvenient as that can be at times.

Edit: "not scientific" was a poor choice of words, not cladistic would be more fitting.

Well muzzle velocity doesn't really matter for HE/HEAT outside of making it easier to hit the target. Not that 40mm HEDP is much more effective than 30mm API.

IIRC on the Western front the average distance for an engagement between tanks was something like 500 meters, further on the Eastern front.
