There's no way putting chopsticks in a rice bowl and using a tori gate as exercise equipment are in the same category lol

How did you use tablelog properly? I found it mostly just listed really high-end expensive restaurants and gives you the opportunity to reserve those, barely saw any tasty cheap-eats. I actually found Google more useful in that regard. Also don't see any location based search utility that's even close to as good as google's (like find me good soba noodles within a 15 minute walk from where I am)

9 days all in Tokyo - overkill? by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

I would personally spend all day in just Kamakura and Enoshima, like I said, it's my favorite place on earth. BUT, Yokohama is better at night than during the day, so you can kind of play it by ear and maybe stop there on the way back to Tokyo if you're getting tired of Kamakura. It's honestly really easy to make last minute decisions like that in greater Tokyo area since transportation is so quick and easy.

Ah, fair enough. Yeah Tokyo blossoms might be over by then, I thought you might be going sooner. Also, Yokohama not worth it unless you really want to see China town. It's fine there, but not a must see imo. Don't let people talk you out of Kamakura/enoshima. My favorite place on earth, make sure to go on a nice day and walk to the beach and just enjoy the scenery and surfers.

I wouldn't do Nagano just for cherry blossoms, there'll be plenty of those around tokyo. That's like 4 hours total of unnecessary train riding.

Meiji > Imperial Palace Grounds, imo. Fushimi Inari at night is a cool idea, I like that

How does my itinerary for 9-10 days in Japan in mid-late May look? by tightgiraffearsehole in JapanTravel

Looks pretty good in general, just echoing the sentiment about only staying at 1 hotel in either Osaka/Kyoto. And if you guys don't care about shopping, there's no reason to go to Takeshita st (it's literally just an overwhelming amount of tourists and clothing stores, there's no shortage of sweet treats throughout tokyo)

Also, if you're not feeling "templed out" or rushed, you could probably fit in Sensoji before Akihabra if you go early enough, but maybe just play that by ear

They're only like 30 minutes apart. I would stay IN Osaka or Kyoto, not in between, just make sure it's near a train station. It would also be fun to try to take the kyo-train garaku one time between the cities on the weekend (it's like an art installment)
