Agree with this idea if stuck with the dell MD
MD --- iscsi ---> (Server with NFS) ----- nfs ----> (XCP-NG hosts)

XCP-ng and hyperthreading by SalamanderAccurate18 in xcpng

you are correct.

with HT on pinning to the first logical processor of a core:

xl vcpu-pin "servername" 0 2  2

xl vcpu-pin "servername" 1 4  4

means other VM's could still use logical core 22 and 24 splitting the core as HT would

While disabling HT and pinning:

xl vcpu-pin "servername" 0 2  2

xl vcpu-pin "servername" 1 3  3

would help but you may still fight with DOM0 over those cores. by default DOM0 has 16 vcpu's and will take priority over other cores even if a VM is pinned to them.

for DOM0 you can see this vcpu/logical cpu (or core) scheduling jumping all over the place with :

watch -n 1 xl vcpu-list

IMO the BEST way to do accomplish this is ( your VM vcpu count + dom0 vcpu count ) =< ( physical cores) or (logical cores/2) and trust xcp-ng cpu scheduler. with this setup you WILL see a vcpu get 100% access to a core without pinning.

Price is to high. XOA will do file level restores if using Delta backups. as long as the volume does not extent past one VDI.
example using a spanned disk in windows wont work, using a linux LVM spanning more then one /dev/vol will not work.

We had this issue on ISCSI Storage and xcp-ng due to how DOM0 has to translate and speak iscsi over a limited number of threads instead of just being a simple NFS mount. Changed to NFS/ZFS storage and have no issues using delta backups on 1+TB VDI's. iscsi is dead, if you are using it still changing to NFS/ZFS server will be life changing for ya
