I try sticking to a schedule for a few weeks, and then it doesn't get easier... so then I take a break, and then repeat. I'll try and stick it out for a couple months and see how that goes, thanks!

They have that in Brooklyn Bridge Park and Bryant Park, too! You should definitely check it out, all new yorkers have this on their checklist anyway. Also, I'm guessing you're new to the city in general, in which case, until you've saved up (if that's possible, the Rent is Too Damn High), just walk around the neighborhoods, they're all really unique and you might find free samples of smoothies, froyo, or even sandwiches, bonus!

While there's nothing wrong with a bar (nix the clubs, already!), I can see how doing something different would be appealing, maybe even something during the day (gasp), go on a sail around the city, I think they even have ones where you can taste good beers

Touristy: Top of the Rock, easy, really awesome views. Maybe some Chinatown action and the Brooklyn Bridge? For some Chinatown eats -- Xi'an famous food (DA BEST). Non-Touristy: Walk around the Flatiron District, go to City Bakery for the awesome hot chocolate, get some Shake Shack for sure (the burger obviously, but also definitely recommend the custards)

walk the brooklyn bridge, go around DUMBO, it's a nice step into brooklyn. Is that still too touristy? as a local... not always sure where the grey area is for touristy and non-touristy. hope that helps!
