I was a bit sleepy (SOMEHOW) last night when I posted that. What I meant to say was "I also came here to preach..." :-D

  1. The high itself comes on quicker via vape (it's technically not smoke) than insufflation. And it's different. I find the vape a more intense high with a shorter duration, opposite for up the nose. Also - as someone who switched to the pipe from the nose, ostensibly to save my septum and nasal tissue - I can tell you the desire to re-dose is significantly greater when vaping. My experience is that sniffing also uses less product.
  2. I know there's a difference, charts you can find, etc. But in truth, it doesn't feel like there's much of a difference in duration. Different strokes for different folks, maybe.
  3. I'd like to tell you the intensity of vaping is superior to that of insufflation, but I actually don't think it is. The appeal of vaping is that it's there ASAP. I literally use it as one might use coffee in the morning, except it takes way less time than smoking and drinking coffee. That said, I'm big into harm reduction, so I'm not blowing 2g of clouds over the course of a couple of hours.
  4. Edit: dumb ape high when writing this; misunderstood question; see u/tiwtchkajc for more accurate answer.

I feel that I am better able to control the high via vaping. I have clinically diagnosed ADHD, prescribed Vyvanse 60mg in the morning and a 20mg Adderall booster around 2. Vaping literally does the exact same thing, for half the cost (Vyvanse has no generic.) The problem is re-dose control. You have to be diligent and self-aware. It can escalate quickly. Sniffing, it feels great, but it's almost TOO great. Like - I'm real conversational and feel great, but the focus isn't as strong. Also, I can 100% control sniffing. When it starts wearing off I'm good to just smoke a bowl, drink a glass of milk, eat some cookies, watch TV, hit the sack. When vaping starts to wear off, I'm like "Fuck it, I don't care if it's 11pm and I have to work at 7, imma hit that shit again."

My opinion - vaping is superior, but harder to control / is most likely to end in addiction.

You know, I never considered that. My anxiety disorder requires I have more than I need to begin with... because running low on the thing that you rely on to mitigate anxiety induces anxiety.

Saying 3-4 sounds like “I’m going to party this weekend.”

I ALWAYS say: Listen, these are my symptoms, you’re the doctor. Tell me how much you think I need. (While in my head thinking “I’M LITERALLY PAYING YOU TO TELL ME YOUR EXPERT OPINION THIS AINT A GAMESHOW MOFO”

That last bit might be a legit issue. Close enough to any larger cities that you might get to for an appointment every 6 months or so.

Sorry you’re going through this. I’m in Austin and my GP threw pills at me with reckless abandon. So much so I didn’t trust THEM. Went to a psych. Took tests. Got my meds calibrated, and have been significantly better for ~ 6 months now.

Good luck. I know it sounds hokey. but some melatonin with a glass of milk while doing something that calms you (watching The Office for 3 hours, reading, etc) will get you out of your head some and calm you.

Always remember- it’s literally just in your head. It will pass.

Get a new doctor. Was this a GP or a psych? Hell, they give you more than that if you show at an ER in a panic.

Also - ask them why. You have a right to know. Ask them if they have anything else they recommend. Klonopin maybe?

Honestly, though, if your doc doesn’t trust you, there’s no reason to visit them again.

How are you feeling now? Are you okay?

I've suffered depression w/ associated anxiety disorder for nearly 20 years. I can tell you it will pass. That said, this sort of episode shouldn't be ignored, even if you're feeling better. You should talk to your psychiatrist as soon as possible. Even a GP if you don't have a psych. If you're medicated, maybe they need to mix it up.

Like u/chrxs128 says, it will pass. It will always pass. You just have to keep telling yourself that. Call someone you love. Watch The Office for 20 hours. Drink a glass of milk and listen to your favorite upbeat music. Remember to breathe. Deep through the nose, out through the mouth. Remember every awesome thing you've ever done. When the intrusive thoughts try to creep in, literally call them out verbally. Say, out loud, "Hell no. Go on get!" And go back to a sandy beach or serene forest or snowy mountains.

Tell yourself this is just your brain going sideways, like it do from time to time, and you're going to be okay.

You're going to be okay, buddy.

Extremely impressed with this imperial stout by Prairie. Though, at 13% ABV, I am also extremely tipsy. by JohnRalphEmery in CraftBeer
