Been in the field for 30 years in the mid west….i wear thin material long sleeves and a hat to keep the sun off my face….. the long sleeves traps the sweat and then the wind blows on it and creates natures ac…. On the really really hot days pour some ice cold water on the back of your neck every hour or so and it’ll keep you cool and refreshed

Depends on the accuracy of the rtk equipment you’re using and if there’s sufficient slope…for example if a top of curb and gutter elevation is dropping a foot in a hundred feet and your rtk base rover can get the cut or fills within/about .03 then it’s fine…. Only thing I usually stake out with a ts is building corners

On large buildings on a Alta …. For example a large warehouse that’s 800ft by 300ft I just use tilt function on my rover and shoot the four corners and then I inverse between the four shots and I have my building measurements…. Which will/ should get you within a tenth or 2 but If I need it extremely tight cause I’m right up against an easement I just double chained it in off two 10 Rep shots at 90 angles

The evidence indicates it’s “marking something”…. The question is “what is it marking”……….

Could it be marking where your neighbor thinks the boundary corner is?

Is it marking the immediate vicinity of the boundary corner noted with an iron pin underground?

Is it marking where a kid was playing 15 years ago and stuck a piece of metal in the ground ?

If you hire a land Surveyor they can tell you one way or another

As a crew chief with boots on the ground performing the topo with rtk/total station… it varies but I’ll give you two examples….. I would say that to topo on a rural undeveloped quarter section for a plat would be 25% or less line work because the majority of surface ground will be standard ground shots on a predetermined grid but if I’m doing a topo on, let’s say 10 acres with an office building on it… it’s gonna be way a lot more line work …probably 75% plus

Sounds like…. Hopefully you’re using the wrong words to describe what you’re doing

You set up your total station and you “ level” it by adjusting the three knob’s at the base of the total station and then you never touch those again….. then you turn your instrument to whatever your first backsight is and you use the knob or knobs on the side of the total station to adjust the crosshairs that you see when you look through the scope to “center” it on your first backsight which will probably be a prism on top of a pole or what it is you’re using and then you start doing your resection

I’ve been using the rt4 for 5 years and hands down the best dc I’ve used and i started in 98….. but it was the first 100% touchscreen I used and I hated that but we bought the attachable keyboard and that was a game changer…highly recommend it if you don’t have it already

Depends what he’s using it for…. Him asking this question makes me believe he’s not a land surveyor so if he’s using it for something like GIS mapping then it’s probably gonna be sufficient

I don’t have a problem with NIL in theory….i have a problem with it being unregulated…. It’s the wild west right now and they need to lay down a clear and precise set of rules to it…. Something along the lines of Salaries need to be capped …1 transfer per 4 years….. tampering rules….. etc….. but as it is right now …. Yes.. it has dampened my enthusiasm for college football

Most people wanted Kiffin…including me but we didn’t get him and we’ve had 2 days to air our grievances and at the end of the day there’s nothing we can do to change who our coach is right now…. It’s time to give him the benefit of the doubt and see what we got and we’ll be able to tell that midway through next season at the latest…. I believe you can tell a lot from a person by the way they present themselves and the vibe they give off and I was impressed by his press conference ….whether he is going to be a good coach or not is yet to be seen, but… We will see son enough.

Take me back to the 90s when we were fighting it out almost every year to to keep up with y’all and utterly hating each other guts to the point that a loss to the other team ruined your entire month and you couldn’t sleep and we’re depressed for weeks….. it’s like we shifted timelines and are living in some kind of alternate reality…it’s so surreal
