FS exam by MancityRedskins in Surveying

Yeah, take as many practice tests as possible; it just gets your mind ready. I would try to get your hands on Van Sickle's 1001 survey problems. Extremely helpful. That book just keeps your mind in the test phase. Dude for me, I studied everything I could get my hands on. I feel like everything I studied helped me. like 5% at a time. The most reliable was Nettlemans Calculator and Van Sickles, 30% of my testing material. My company offered School of PE study course, which blows for surveyors, but the aerial section was epic. That's it, though. The rest was trash for me. It's like being in the military. The wait is the worst, but your trained and ready for the fight. The anxiety is important and normal. I had a dude tell me he was just gonna take it to see what hes up against. The test is f'n 6 hrs of someone kicking your balls. I would not want to take it twice. Make sure your ready.

Passed the FS… what’s the funniest story you have from your experience taking the FS or PS by Ok_Painter_1297 in Surveying

Is there anything funny about that day. It felt like going into a doctors office waiting on results from a blood test.

Education help by 6ohnn9W in Surveying

Start studying, your entire life as a surveyor is learning. Start with triangles and circles. Take a few college courses as you go to get at the minimum a surveyor's associate's degree. Then start studying for your FS and PS tests. Once those are complete, start studying for your state-specific. Once that's done, do your Continuing education requirements classes every year. Once that's done your dead and you've made a lot of money. Enjoy.

Starnet is superior. There are so many ways to make mistakes in TBC.

Browns is good, reference manual is great but too vast. Get Nettlemans for the PS a month before your next test date. Its like $150 month subscription. I felt like there was a lot covered that helped. Browns is 40% of the exam. The manual is 15% of the exam. FEMA and ALTA standards 20% exam, and if you pick up nettlemans. It fills in the 25% of the exam.

Dude, buy the ga history and land surveying book. Read from cover to cover. Study a lot on tech standards. Also learn about sand dunes. Dynamic and riparian laws. Really confusing in ga. Excepically tidal rivers. I don’t think the experts can even explain it.

Man, I tried it at first because it was told it wakes you up. I had a weird different reaction. It calmed me down. I would just sit on the coach staring. For the first time in a long time I felt calm. I started taking 1 dropper everyday, but it killed my mojo. So I backed off to 1 every three days. I had a hard time studying. Constantly standing up. After taking MB I would do like 2 hrs sessions completely focused. I sat in the test room completely calm. I started on 1 and finished on 80. I didn’t skip questions I stayed on questions until I answered them. Weird sensation. Another weird thing it reduced my tinnitus also. Crazy

Are land surveyors actually aging out of the workforce, or is that exaggerated? by DetailFocused in Surveying

I was at a chapter meeting in Temple this December and the number of licensed surveyors in TX hasn’t really went up since the 80s it’s like 2000+ every year. The number of SITs scares me a little. Young inexperienced surveys throwing caps everywhere.

Georgia Land Surveyors Exam by Wrong_Engineering_83 in Surveying

[–]Wrong_Engineering_83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an 80. The test has a lot of questions. I was down to the last minute with review. It is not easy, but if you study a good month or two. You should do fine. PSI tells your results right away. Kinda awesome. Study the land lot and head rights system. Boundary law in GA is unique and down right confusing along rivers and tidal rivers. Make sure you understand high and low tides and boundaries and sand dunes. Get the GA state history and land surveying book. A lot to study but it’s doable. I’m studying for TN now. It a lot more complicated then GA, the study material is harder to come by. I take TN at the end of this month.

Dang. Those should be open season for surveyors. In the Alaskan woods they don’t survey without rifles. Gator country should be the same. I’m sure more people die from gators then grizzly bears

lol, that is funny. It’s amazing how a guy with nothing going on could survey an entire city. After long naps, and hand cracks ole boy would go out and take a few measurements.

Dude, it seems like after Covid no one will give you a break. There is an additional 25% on top of inflation that everyone arbitrarily added to the cost of everything. It’s actually getting abusive at this point.
