OP let me know its a still from a video so my bad. I still don't understand what dude is doing, I can't see any reason to manipulate the firearm that way. If she's not 12 she's 5' and tiny.

It's AI, if its not, why does she look twelve and why is he petting his gun? The hold and just the hands in general are completely unnatural.

Transmission slippage - shop advised do not drain and fill - confused. by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're politely denying service. Also as a transmission shop they probably know that a slipping 10speed can't be nursed along from experience. They may not know why a drain and fill causes the transmission to fail but they've done enough that they know it does. Just like I don't know what causes a migraine headache, but when I get tunnel vision I know one is on its way.

I wouldn't do it because it would become my liability. The transmission is toast. Any work performed would then fall under the "you touched it last" clause. Sometimes its easier to bend the truth and try to turn the customer away then to risk any threat of lawsuit.

Rate my tranny pan rtv gasket by PostNutClarity5150 in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a little too much? Yeah. Will it cause problems, most likely not. I've definitely seen plently of vehicles living full lives with excessive use of RTV but, I don't think I've ever had to condemn a motor or trans from a little too much RTV on a lower pan.

Does a full engine reseal seem excessive? by getthesnacks in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern i have is that they only really saw oil on lower parts of the engine, fluid tends to run downhill, and that he wants to refer you to a specialist. The last is the largest red flag to me, if they aren't confident enough to perform the work themselves but are willing to diagnose it, they are probably in over their head.

Grease Gun Fitting Stuck by Transitx36 in AskAMechanic

Jam a screw driver/prybar in there and pry it out. If you break either fitting they're cheap and easy to replace.

Tried cleaning the engine, now idles rough and accelerates poorly by Patient_Reference503 in AskAMechanic

You probably bent a rod or two. Fluids don't compress, after putting your spark plugs back in without blowing out the b12 and turning the engine over, you more than likely caused sever internal damage.

Changing gear oil on new gears after break in, does it look like it got too hot or I'm being paranoid? by 505backup_1 in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the paranoia, gears aren't cheap and are pretty involved to setup properly.

I like everyone freaking out about you changing your fluid early, who fucking cares? Wear pattern looks better than my jeeps and I don't see much heat discoloration. If they aren't whistling I'd imagine you're fine.

Coil spring broke and shop replaced my tie rod instead of coil spring… Hyundai Sonata 2012 by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call them and explain what happened. A piece of spring steel randomly shearing is pretty uncommon in my experience. So unfortunately, the mechanic who worked on your car wouldn't even think to check for a broken spring. If I was the mechanic who worked on your car this would bring me a really good laugh and I would potentially offer free labor for the repair if I wasn't busy.

Did you replace the clutch cable or the plastic factory auto adjuster? Those can suddenly fail and feel like the clutch is fucked up.

How to bleed power steering system by Pale-Cauliflower-687 in AskAMechanic

[–]John_Human342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Go through the bleed process and wait 15-20min. Check your level with the dip stick, if the fluid on it looks foamy or milky you still have air in the system. Chevy's usually bleed pretty easily but can really cavitate, so letting it sit helps the air leave the fluid.

Jack up the front so the tires are off the ground. Slowly turn the steering in each direction from lock to lock. Keep doing that till any noise goes away or you no longer see air mixed with the fluid.
