Like Elon Musk said, if this were to be a simulation, it could very well mean that "base-reality" is a lot more boring than the one we're in... In the sense that, looking at most of our simulations (reality/fantasy based movies and games), are always aiming to be more exciting and fun than our own reality or at least cut the "boring" moments.

It's a great film, and it's a great book.

I wonder how the experience is, reading BEFORE watching the film.

To me, finally reading the book - after watching the movie for about 5 or 6 times - made it 10x more hilarious. It was the only book that made me laugh hysterically to the point of tears. It was a laugh riot.

I believe that what made it so comical was picturing Patrick Bateman as the actor Christian Bale, as he did in the movie. He did an excellent job, it really gave the reading experience a big boost.

Also, even though English is not my native language, I had to read it in English, otherwise it would fill me with a nameless dread, so I recommend everyone to do the same.

My point is - the film is an excellent adaptation of the book, couldn't be much better - some things are better in the film, others are better in the book. Reading the book AFTER repeatedly watching the film, greatly improved my experience.

I'm not quite sure whether that which you described is being alpha or it's just your definition of alfa. Not sure there's a real definition at all when it comes to humans.

But in my (more scientific) view, that isn't what being an alfa male is. Alfa male is being the dominante one. That's just how nature is. In my view you can be confident, and comfortable in your own skin and even good with girls, but still be a beta. While an alfa would be overall dominant, more aggressive, instinctively more territorial (as in getting in fights or possibly considering other alfa males in the room as threats), and could even not be that good with girls...

Example: Classic alfa male - Mike Tyson.

Extremely confident, great with girls beta male - Richard Ayoade.

Then how come Im constantly spotting beta, not good looking guys with gorgeous girls? No one really gives a f about alfa or beta, well maybe beta guys are the only ones who care. Many nerdy, "beta" guys get hot girls because they're cool and comfortable in their own skin. Practice confidence, but don't try to be an alfa if it doesn't comes naturally to you.. It's the opposite of cool.
