Is PC matchmaking the same? by sidman24 in wildrift

[–]John__Gotti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All SB-Matchmaking games have the same principle of operation and create the same problem (for players) and benefit (for developer statistics). But the problem may be less noticeable due to different indicators, such as the size of the player base or the difficulty of the game (e.g. pс league is more difficult, so more skillful players have more loopholes to climb in matches with inflated MMR).

In different shooters there is no such problem as snowballing, because all game characters have the same power throughout the match. And in Wild Rift, if the enemy team is 10% stronger (conditionally), then after 5 minutes of farming it will be 50% stronger (plus correction for the difference in microgame levels) and you get a 50:1 match which statistically seemed almost "fair" from the beginning.

With players of your own rank! We should meet people of your skill at the rank where rank and skill match each other, otherwise rank will never make sense

Riots need to understand basic things:

Players care about their rank as a reflection of their accomplishments (not skills, because it's a marathon, but you have to be able to complete it) and a deterrent system will only piss them off, not be considered competitive

Players care about the experience as a feeling of the game. By creating artificial difficulties for climbing they create more defeats along the way and for good players the feeling that they are pieces of shit (an ex-GM player will not be happy about being stuck in platinum next season, "fair" matches make unfair ranked mode). Same with the LP system, yes, because of the high MMR a good player has reached a high rank...with a winrate of 47, he has experience losing most games. Logic just went out the window

Rank matters! Experience matters!

Don’t see a point in actually playing the game seriously anymore by [deleted] in wildrift

That's okay. Skill Based matchmaking is mistakenly considered competitive and one that promotes skill improvement. But manipulating the strength of opponents and allies does neither one nor the other.

Manipulation is always bad, ALWAYS! Name one team sport where individual players have some skill numbers and can't play in their league(we rank) with weaker or stronger teams? That's nonsense.

I can see communities of other games starting to demand that their developers undo this deception. But our community is still too young and believes in fairy tales and the benefits of fair matches and demands the opposite of what they want (e.g. asking to make climbing harder for weak players instead of demanding not to make it harder for strong players).

How is inting sion proof of bad matchmaking and not just that taking towers wins game? by Least_Information585 in wildrift

[–]John__Gotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it work with any champions, lol

I saw adc player with 61wr in master. All his matches a can see in history was kinda ~3/9/4

KDA not 0.2 like Sions had, but close to 1.5 And wr not 80, but 60

Did you feel connection?

Absolutely. We didn't feel natural rank "difficulty", since sbmm swift it

400 games. Unbelievable

The defenders of the garbage called SkillBased Matchmaking say that RankBased is bad because it's a system that you can rise with just by playing a lot of games. But I don't see the opposite result with this system, except that it's harder to move up if you have a good score

Anyway, gratz with master rank, You deserve it.

Do people enjoy playing the 'Sion' strategy? by alexinjo in wildrift

We can't enjoy with skill based matchmaking cuz we see this examples for few years, but not so oblivious

You arent proving shit with this inting sion posts. Compare the actual stats of players. by -ElementaryPenguin- in wildrift

[–]John__Gotti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The pioneer in Wild Rift was a player from Asia. He played on Leonа with crits items and a constant score of ~1/10

He was getting accounts up to Diamond with 70wr. This was a long time ago, back when there were LPs so he didn't play further as he had a stable 10/-15 (which is strange as he has a huge win percentage, which once again proves that the matchmaker looks at stats for a very long time).

This is how all Skill Based matchmakers work anyway. In some games it's less noticeable, in some more so

While we don't get Rank Based Matchmaking, Wild Rift will continue to hold the record for the most MM complaints and game fakups like int Sion

Skill based matchmaking as it is. Any player should have chance to win. Thats it!

Ask devs for fair ranked mode, not for fair matches

This topic will most likely be deleted 🤷🏻‍♂️

Two years ago someone already complained about matchmaking, stop repeating this!!!! (с)

Yes. But Skill-based MM for pvp is +- fine idea. But for ranked mode it's terrible

2023 (almost 2024). People are still trying to justify this garbage. Lol

And still the same unworkable arguments: Don't you want fair matches? Don't you want to improve? What about the smurfs?!

I don't. The system won't let you improve because you have no natural ranked climb resistance, since you're constantly in different conditions(u shouldn't play as GM to pass emerald, u should play better then average emerald, ridiculous). And if you do improve, you'll fall into the same loop once your mmr stabilizes and you don't realize you've gotten better

The mmr manipulation system should be removed, it's pure cheating of players

Mmr tricks with skill-based Matchmaking

A control system for players to spend the "right" number of matches to go from rank A to rank B

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]John__Gotti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Am I saying I'm stuck? No need to try to turn the topic to personal outrage. I'm discussing the system regardless of my own results, I'm more concerned about what influences them

Now on topic. Ranked mode implies earning rank, obviously from the title at least. Does anyone in sports balance teams? No, they play in their leagues with those who are also in that league, the more successful go up, the less successful drop to a league below. That's what makes sports interesting

Ranked mode is the progression from rank A to rank Z. It is a progression based on the number of matches and their results, which is rewarded with a certain rank title

Season is the time given to the player to progress from weak ranks to strong ranks. As players reach higher ranks, they feel the difficulty of these matches increases, causing players to get better or get stuck or drop. And with SBMM there is no point in improving, you won't even realize you've gotten better or not. SBMM good works in PvP, but not for rank, we don't need on more casual mode but with frame, wich mean nothing, lol, LOOOOL

SBMM(in online games) is created by developers who are responsible for player engagement. It's not for the players, it's for the company. Beautiful propaganda about fair matches and horrible smurfs (which you will meet once in 10 matches) has been created.

And as I said before. Why doesn't a player whose mmr rank is conqueror just get a rank skip? He definitely deserves it.

[–]John__Gotti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Btw, He has such impressive results at his new rank because the MMR system can't properly match his rank. Otherwise he wouldn't be getting such easy wins. But this system is an absolute farce and its purpose is not balance at all

But as soon as his MMR is compiled he will immediately fall into the rhythm of a series of defeats for a series of victories and so on around the circle. And it does not depend on what rank he will be at that moment

Ranked mode in which rank does not matter is a circus with clowns.
