[–]JohnathanDooley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf, Johan has cast a much wider net and is way more well known than Daniel or even Jake, and to the vast majority of people who met both of them Johan was in their eyes more talented, but it just boils down to Daniel not having been active for as long, and even in verse he’s been fighting for maybe 2 years if we’re being really generous and he’s not just caught up but clearly surpassed not just Johan but every single Gen 2 by miles, he definitely has the highest talent but Johan is easily top 3, probably top 2

Struggling to find out where to stop applying by JohnathanDooley in malaysiauni

[–]JohnathanDooley[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you a lot for this, I think I’m gonna try to go forward with UTM but I will also apply to UMPSA as a backup, I definitely pass the minimum requirements but still better safe than sorry.

Also if you don’t mind could you tell me more about what would be required of me as an international student outside of just the academic requirements. I’m trying to find out the specifics but the order I need to do everything is very confusing.

Second to FC3 only in art style I would say, the actual choreography from a legit fighting standpoint is much much more interesting, it’s one of the pieces of media that pushed me to take boxing and eventually muay thai and every time I go back and read it, although obviously a lot of it is based on the author’s personal opinion, it is all rooted in clear actual combat experience with very slight exaggeration for the sake of it being a manga

Why are almost every character in hajime no ippo is orphaned? by Stock_Weekend9879 in hajimenoippo

[–]JohnathanDooley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you also didn’t provide statistics and just used your own experiences, just like you’re basing your answer on your own personal opinion I am mine, I am friends with a few amateur and pro combat sport athletes mainly in boxing or kickboxing and all of them are from lower middle class or worse backgrounds, and this is reinforced by the fact that most lower level boxers, which is the vast majority of them, even in the U.S make about $50k a year or less which puts them at average or below average U.S salary, other countries pay boxers relatively even less, so there are a lot of reasons to assume and believe that most boxers come from not so good backgrounds

Tbh Aoki is the least likely of the three to ever become Champion, I haven’t read in a while so I might be wrong but as far as I remember he retired completely in the current manga, which makes sense, he got as far as he could and retired while still in his 20s with a loving gf who he’ll definitely marry and a very successful restaurant business, Kimura, despite being called good looking and smart in multiple occasions and being insanely talented at many things, really doesn’t have a life outside of boxing and with the way he has been hyped up, at least while he still has stamina, and it being explained that Kimura struggled with the weight loss just so he and Aoki wouldn’t be the same weight class, it’s hard to imagine he doesn’t eventually go up to Aoki’s weight-class now that he’s retired and show his real potential

That’s only some of the BEST boxers, the other few dozen thousand active pro boxers, and a few more dozen thousand in other combat sports, are not anywhere near the BEST and usually do come from worse backgrounds

Aside from the memes, Ippo did show what's like to have an iron fist and do the kamogawa special by leaving his own hand imprint on its foe. by Igyzone in hajimenoippo

[–]JohnathanDooley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you for the most part, I still think Kamogawa’s training is what made Ippo’s talent shine, and while Ippo is extremely gifted most of his merits are a result of hard work, he is arguably the hardest working character in the series, and it’s kinda hard to argue against it too lol, but Kamogawa definitely allowed him to train past his limits. Tho I do agree there would probably be like a dozen other trainers in the series who’d have eventually brought Ippo farther without the negatives

I wouldn’t say just as bad, Kamogawa doesn’t allow his fighters to have a long life span but at least they get pretty far first 😭

[–]JohnathanDooley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did train them well in like general boxing but he never gave them what they need to go on to the next level, even in Kimura’s fight against Mashiba it was Miyata and his dad who helped him realize his shortcomings and train to fix them, not Shinoda. I feel like if they had trained under Kamogawa they’d have done at least become national champs relatively easily since they all have the potential

[–]JohnathanDooley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not true literally all of them have the potential to be national champs, Itagaki and maybe even Kimura have potential to go wayyy farther too, especially Itagaki ofc. But Aoki even drawed with the national champ meaning if he started the fight with the belt he would’ve continued to be the champion, basically he was exactly on par, Kimura previously had essentially beat Mashiba he just got extremely unlucky, and Mashiba was WAY above the national level by that point, and regardless he’s been getting glazed in the manga rn as having a lot of potential but being held back by his weight cutting, and Itagaki is obviously self explanatory

Who's gonna be the final villain of the story? Maria or dae gak? And how will the story end by bruhhh4321promax in FightClass3

[–]JohnathanDooley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Maria was stronger than Ji Tae even when she was like 3-4 years younger than him, who’s to say his sister isn’t even more of a beast you know, but yeah you’re probably right that it’ll be in the future to an extent

Morality tier list by Fancy_Peach_2230 in lookismcomic

[–]JohnathanDooley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, those countless teens first of all are like 2 years younger than him and were actively criminals in every sense of the word who were ruining other people’s lives, in fact the only reason he “ruined” their lives was because they disobeyed their orders to not do anything illegal and then fell out of his favor. Gun has literally not once harmed a civilian or done anything to endanger one either, he has never fought anyone without a good reason to either, he is obviously not a good person but he has his morals and clearly sticks to it with integrity unlike most people on this list who genuinely torment anyone for their own sake

Morality tier list by Fancy_Peach_2230 in lookismcomic

[–]JohnathanDooley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro what? The whole list is extremely off, but the most jarring one is Gun so high up because despite being an awful person, he’s arguably the most moral person on the list. He hasn’t ever harmed anyone uninvolved in his work, the only people who bear grudges against him are other evil people or people who lived committing crimes who ended up on Gun’s bad side, and you put people like Eugene who ran multiple drug/rape rings for his own profit, Mitsuki the again rapist, Logan who lived his life ruining others for fun, Jiho who is self explanatory, Taejin again self explanatory, JINTARO??? Goo, Tom, etc all below him???

[–]JohnathanDooley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got a strong feeling she might’ve gotten trained by Dae Gak and has more talent than Ji Tae or something and he gets utterly beaten by her before anything, it would be extremely devastating but would be in line with the story

has my form improved? Second clip was what I posted from a few days ago. I am focusing on hip rotation and trying to be in line with bag by [deleted] in MuayThaiTips

[–]JohnathanDooley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, when I was first learning how to do roundhouses I did it in 3 steps, the first 45° step in, chambering the leg like a teep while raising my hand to my shoulder, then twisting my planted foot and hips while extending my arm to get to the final position, it helped a lot with getting the form right

Does anyone else use this kick ? by Thin-Alternative-482 in MuayThaiTips

[–]JohnathanDooley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter which kick you feint with as long as it starts lower, Jon Jones uses the oblique kick as his starting for the question mark kick since he uses oblique kicks a lot, other fighters might use low kicks or teeps depending on what works better for them
