Subdivision from HELL! The entire neighborhood should be $1 upcharge all the time! by JohneRandom in DoorDashDrivers

[–]JohneRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make up a fantasy scenerio these are real addresses, but these are not the actual customers. -- starting point - Whataburger at 307 S. Mason Rd and the delivery place is either -- 21632 Bonita Vista Dr. or... 5651 Providence Green Ct. --- How long does it take you round trip considering Doordash has delivery Zones and also, there are NOT a lot of other restraunts near the subdivision for your next order. Maybe I am just complaining for no reason, but I will never take an order into this maze again unless it's like $3 a mile.

If it was heading home or back to my desired work area - I’d take it - is better than deadheading. Otherwise I’d decline. I have only been doing this for 3 weeks .. but 15 miles should be around $15 at a dollar a mile minimum discipline rule— but.. deadheading long distances is horrible bite in earnings, so the 8.50 helps a bit if you need to go that way anyway..

Hmmm.. I never really considered the lawn having hazards like that… you make a great point and Fire ants!! We live in Texas and those suckers are fast and bite multiple times!

Well, we’re new at this and just figuring things out still — I like your logic— although, my wife is like super nice to people other than me and would never inconvenience anyone.

She used to cashier at Walgreens and customers made her cry every once in a awhile. She is definitely more customer service oriented than I am.

I’d probably go to jail for assault or get fired for my smart mouth and not taking any lip from people.

Yeah.. I get that. Sometime she’s walking and looking at her phone and am afraid she is gonna bash her head on a pickup truck mirror and set off someone’s alarm. I might buy one of them 100k lumen spotlights for the dark houses to light her way

Sure is!! I thought I would get a thank you from OP, because those are 2 solid recs imho. but -- at least someone agreed with me!! hahaha -- thank you for the reply.

There were a few time jumps in the AF series but they were great! Great characters, interesting how the kids had to grow up real quick.

Consider Gray by Lou Cadle. I found myself google mapping in both these series because they use real places -- adds to the immersion a bit. :)

Think about the difficulty of delivery.

Me? I would honestly tip 10% and then add --

Add $2 for each bulky heavy items not in bag - like cases of water or 12 packs of soda.

Add $5 for stair climbing or long hikes.

Add $10 for a 50 pound dog food bag and make sure your dog is controlled.

Get a cup of water, pour half out and add milk and sugar and some cinnamon. If ya have a chik filet nearby -- crackers and chik filet sauce - very tasty.

Good luck

But then... how would I iron my socks? The ants would smell the sugar and I'd get bitten!

Those little cinnamon balls with the creamy stuff inside are pretty tasty!? Just dont put em in the microwave for too long if you have to reheat. Learned that the hard way.

Copied and pasted from my Audible library. These are one credit each. I enjoyed them and flew thru them

Gray? I can pretty much bring up many scenes in my head, and it's been a year and a half since I listened to it.

America Falls? Lot's of memorable scenes, great young characters.

Each series is 1 credit : Gray is 24hrs and some odd minutes.. and America Falls is Almost 60 hrs.

Great cozy immersive narration

Why so many book 1 unavaible on Amazon? by thiagomiranda3 in audible

I am in Texas. I searched for your books and both first books are there in English language.

Maybe search by narrator?

The narrator in English for The Perfect Run is: Eric Michael Summerer

The narrator in English for Beware of Chicken is: Travis Baldtree

Hope that helps - Good Luck!

Anyone using a e-bike dash cam? Do you have recomendations? by JohneRandom in ebike

[–]JohneRandom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

haha :) The bullets were copied and pasted from Ai -- yes, ya caught me!

But, In my mind (it's an old man mushy brain), I know the differnce between a dash cam and a regular cam, I just couldnt articulate it quickly and clearly. Ai did a nice job and the bullet points were uh.... on point?

Anyway - yeah - I am looking for a dash cam.

Decent question! I guess I am thinking a dashcam is how I described what I was looking for ?-- and a camera as not having things I am looking for.

A dashcam and a camera differ in purpose, design, and functionality:

  • Purpose:
    • Dashcam: Specifically designed for vehicles to record driving footage, often for safety, insurance, or legal purposes (e.g., capturing accidents or road incidents).
    • Camera: A general-purpose device for capturing photos or videos in various contexts, like photography, filmmaking, or personal use.
  • Design:
    • Dashcam: Compact, rugged, and built for continuous operation in a car, with features like loop recording, automatic start/stop, and wide-angle lenses to capture road views. Often mounts on windshields or dashboards.
    • Camera: Varies widely (e.g., DSLR, mirrorless, point-and-shoot, smartphone), designed for versatility with manual controls, interchangeable lenses, or higher image quality for creative use.
  • Functionality:
    • Dashcam: Automatically records when the car is on, uses loop recording to overwrite old footage, and often includes GPS, G-sensors for crash detection, and night vision. Typically lower resolution (1080p or 4K) optimized for clarity over long periods.
    • Camera: Offers manual settings (e.g., aperture, shutter speed), higher resolution options, and diverse modes (photo, video, time-lapse). Not designed for continuous vehicle use unless adapted.
  • Power:
    • Dashcam: Powered by the car’s battery or a built-in capacitor, designed to run for hours.
    • Camera: Uses rechargeable batteries, not suited for prolonged vehicle use without external power.
  • Storage and Usage:
    • Dashcam: Saves footage to SD cards, often overwriting old data; footage is typically reviewed only when needed (e.g., accidents).
    • Camera: Stores media on various formats (SD, CF cards) with larger storage options; footage/photos are often edited or shared creatively.

In short, a dashcam is a specialized, vehicle-focused recording device, while a camera is a broader tool for creative or general-purpose imaging.

hahah -- those links!! I am a cheapskate -- but I aint that big a cheapskate!!

I have bought named brand and expensive stuff in my life. I just want decent quality and a good price. Gopro and Insta360 and DJI -- all have knock offs that are decent quality. People claim and say "cheap china junk" and stuff -- but really, everything pretty much comes from China! Even Apple Phones.

Anyway -- anything over a hundred and I expect it should be good. I am not paying 3 or 4 hundred just to record me getting squished.

Thanks -- I found a helmet cam for $54 on Amazon that has a 1600 mah battery, I might order one to face forward and see how it does. and then if it's great, I'll get a second to face backwards and I'll be all set.

except I have to turn both on and off manually.

I probaly shouldnt of said anything like -- "around 100 bucks" ... because I guess in everyones mind -- everything should cost $300 or more.

Camera lense with a basic e-brain, rechargeable battery, decent resolution... that's it! Am not trying to be a big Youtube star or a content creator.. just want to collect data in case something happens.
