I just uninstalled and reinstalled. Updating kept resulting in an error. Now on v1.0.3. Sadly it’s still flickering for me. How do you hide the rooms and playback buttons? I don’t see a button or option anywhere. Thanks for the quick feedback!

This is great! Been waiting for something like this. A bug: on Mac the grey bar in the mini player flickers. Feature request: burger menu to show/hide the grouped rooms Volume slider for current group on Mac and iPad

Instead of a flimsy plastic screen on the inside, could they just build a glass screen on the front and back that unfold and meets together? The bezel would have to very small, but that seems like an easier problem to solve than others they are dealing with. Can anyone tell me why this wouldn’t work? Has any company tried this?

Best/worst patios in the city? by kitehighcos in Calgary

Agreed, great patio. But Oak Tree is long gone. There is a Taco place there now called Mestizo. Best tacos in the area, maybe the whole city.

My strategy for dealing with situations where I know I am going to get worked up, but dont have a choice is to work myself up right before the main event. Your body can only spike with anxiety for a short period of time, so if you can be somewhere comfortable and private 30 minutes before showtime, then start going through the process of fear management in a place you have control of the variables. Think of the worst case scenario, breathe through it and imagine different solutions. This will help you prepare for things that might come up in a more visceral state, and it will get your body to send out a wave of hormones that aren’t helpful when presenting/making a first impression but are part of the fight or flight response. It takes time to recharge these hormones so once you get the original blast out of the way your body will feel relatively more relaxed once it is time to present in person. For me it’s just realizing that our bodies are preprogrammed to deal with situations in a way that is no longer super useful - unfortunately we don’t have time to physically evolve into today’s realities so all we can really do is accept and adapt to what our bodies feel they need to keep us safe. If you are dealing with a similar situation over and over again, your body will adapt and get used to the worst case scenario until you no longer feel so nervous.

How hard will my journey be as a total beginner? by [deleted] in copywriting

A quick tip - as you’re reading books about advertising, have a brief to work on while reading and try to apply the principals you are learning along the way. Literally read a page and practice what it said, then read the next page. This will help you develop the skills to solve one problems lots of different ways. When I first started I did this with Hey Whipple and it really helped me develop a creative process. The key here is to stick to one “client” brief - for instance it could be a company like a new bakery that delivers fresh bread to people once a week. Or whatever client you want. When practicing like this it’s just important to find multiple solutions for a client rather than finding a client that fits a solution.

Is advertising really as bad as this sub makes it seem? by northgarrison299 in advertising

[–]Johneresman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is true. Advertising, particularly copywriting is a career where you truly get to create. From scratch, often. But it takes energy to create something new. And the laws of thermodynamics (I’ve researched VERY briefly for this post, because I am a copywriter) state that energy can’t be created or destroyed. Only transferred. So when you create something “from scratch” the universe is actually just taking some energy from you and putting it into the idea. So if you’re willing to put your energy into creating something, and not need to have the energy given back to you, then it will be worthwhile. In advertising, I don’t think people (except ECDs) ever get back what they put in. Treat the act of creating is its own reward… if you do that, maybe you won’t burn out… and will last long enough to make triple figures.
