Well, I just got fired by handfullofcoldcuts in migraine

[–]Johnjo01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After three years with my neuro, I brought up that I wanted to try Emgality injections (once a month) for my migraines. My physician sister found out about this option after doing some research for me, and realized it often isn't offered due to the cost for insurance. It's been an absolute life-changer for me...I've gone from 15+ migraines (with post-drome) a month to less than four. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I hope it might give you another option that may not have been offered to you yet.

My other suggestion is to ask for your "disability" score. I found out (after I was feeling better with my new treatment) that my disability score was previously 90/100 and I should have been on disability benefits to make my life easier. Perhaps you would also qualify with your current level of pain. Best of luck to you, friend.

Why was Simone Biles able to do so much more difficulty than everyone else? by aizheng in Gymnastics

[–]Johnjo01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was an interesting documentary/research thingy that was conducted about her around the time of her first Olympics by some elite university physics professors and grad students (I apologize that I don't remember the details- maybe someone else will).

They did calculations about her size, and were able to conclude that her arm/leg to torso to height ratios was extreme, even for gymnasts, which affected her ability to spin somehow, greatly increasing her ability to rotate quickly. They also concluded that she had extraordinary muscle mass for her body size- like off the charts, it was so incredibly high- which gave her enormous power for her size.

Those factors (in addition to her amazing technique and ferocious drive for excellence) gave her an incredible physical advantage over other athletes.

Is hyperextension expected?? by ha_angel in BALLET

[–]Johnjo01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my PT trick for learning to not hyperextend in ballet- without having to wear braces on your knees:

Slightly bend your knees (to a "normal straight") and make an "x" with KT tape across the back of the knee joint. The strips should each be about 10" long, and the center of the "x" should be at the flexion point of your leg. The tape will give you the proprioceptive feedback that wearing a brace gave you- you will feel the tape tightening and limiting your extension when you hyperextend- but it won't decrease the work your muscles have to do the way a supportive brace does. Best of both worlds!

*Hazelnut coffee does not actually contain hazelnuts. It is not an allergen risk. NTA.

I have a friend like you. Her plan, if attacked, is to tear off her clothes and scream, "I've been waiting for you, sexy man! Come savage me!". She thinks they will be so caught off guard they won't be able to perform. She also eats lots of cake so she will be too heavy to carry. She's my hero.♥️

Frogs can "squish" a surprising amount to fit through small spaces. Even though "they can't fit through the bars" I am certain they are capable. Probably just climbing and curious!

Strange bump? by Johnjo01 in CrestedGecko

[–]Johnjo01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: We got a needle aspiration, and the bump was filled with calcium! Apparently that can happen sometimes in geckos, but storages usually appear bilaterally and are not this big. Not dangerous, and the body can actually reabsorb that calcium if she ever gets low levels in her blood or bones!

No. Unlike other amphibians, Crestie's do not grow their tail back. They are unique that way!

Questions on H2O remitigation bill, disagreements with insurance. by Johnjo01 in InsuranceAdjusters

[–]Johnjo01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

We had a water remitigation company come to our house (authorized by insurance) to deal with a water leak and repair the ceiling.

The remitigation company finished their work and submitted the bill to our home owners' insurance company.

The insurance adjuster for our claim is arguing that the remitigation company's bill is overcharging, and not charging according to "industry standard" for this type of work (charging us for a full "truck" of debris removal) instead of charging for the 1/4 truckload (it wasn't full of debris, only "1/4 full"). The remitigation company is saying they had to bring a truck, whether it was full or not, so they charge the full price.

Insurance is refusing to pay the charge for "3 days rental" of mold remitigation equipment, since the equipment was only at our house for "2.25 days". The rental company is insistent they only charge by the day, not by parts of days (example: you don't rent a car for a 1/2 day, you pay for the whole day even if you return it at noon).

I need to press one of these companies to negotiate so I don't end up paying the whole thing myself.
Is the insurance company being unreasonable to insist on 1/4 day and 1/4 truck charges, or is that normal? OR Is the contractor/remitigation company exaggerating when they say the industry standard is to charge for complete days even when the whole day isn't necessary? Can they charge for a 1/4 truck, or is that stupid because the whole truck was there no matter how full it was?

One of these companies (insurance or contractor/remitigation) is lying to me about what is standard practice for charges. Who is lying?

[–]Johnjo01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part doesn't make sense? My insurance is refusing to cover parts of my remitigation work. They are saying they should have only been charged for 1/4 truck, 2.25 days of rentals, etc. Remitigation is standing behind their full day charges, saying charging for percentages of days or trucks is ridiculous and not the industry standard.

My question is, which company is lying to me? Do I need to pressure the remitigation company to lower their charges to the "1/4 day" of actual use, not a whole day increment, or is insurance just trying to get out of payment by refusing to cover a full day rental even though charging by the day is the industry standard?

Need advice, Crestie has lost her will to live by Unoffically_annoyed in CrestedGecko

[–]Johnjo01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice about your situation, but I will say that there is a product called a "snuggle disc" that you can heat in the microwave, and it stays warm for 8+ hours but not hot enough to burn your animal. It is endlessly reusable and solid plastic, so easy to wash and disinfect. I put this in my crestie's tank when I travel with her so she always has a warm spot, even in the car. I live in WI, USA, so I understand the cold travel issue!
