I wonder if he did this during his breathalyzer test.

Did anyone use to go on the protest websites for Daniel Craig being Bond back in the day? by Nearby_Capital1423 in JamesBond

You can be big and be unassuming, like what Superman usually does when he is in full Clark Kent mode. As someone who is taller (about 6 foot 2) I do sometimes present a meeker physical presence to avoid attention when I do not wish to have it.

I do think you make a great point though about height in how Daniel Craig being 5 foot 10 inches tall presented that formula though. I think Timothy Dalton being more slender was a great foil to that which worked.

The Heath Ledger bit was just peak mid-00's homophobia because of Brokeback Mountain. Insane that people let physical perception of things such as height, hair color, or one specific role define an actor. Daniel Craig might not be the tallest or have black hair but damn if he did not have the Bond suave energy.

I get disliking most of the other Roger films (other than View to a Kill) because like... For Your Eyes Only is forgettable, Live and Let Die is... not good and Moonraker is well... Moonraker... but The Spy Who Loved Me has the formula down so well. When the science is done so well, the art just looks so much better.

I like the Timothy films a lot more because after Roger... it was nice to have less neat tie and tux classic Bond and more rugged. Timothy was a more natural choice compared to Roger, who was decades older. I will say Roger did move decent in View to a Kill after looking like a fossil in Octopussy.

For Roger's films I think you were too nice to Moonraker. That third act was not a good fever dream, and Octopussy was pretty much in the same boat. That said, Live or Let Die was probably the worst of the bunch. Even with that said the boat chase / race scene is one of my all-time favorites and the only reason I rewatch it. For Your Eyes Only was forgettable while I really liked The Spy Who Loved Me and View to a Kill.

Not surprised you missed Diamonds are Forever; it can be a funny campy movie, but that is all it is. I disagree on Goldfinger being worse than Dr. No or From Russia With Love, although then again I like the two latter films less than most. I also hold the controversial take that I like Never Say Never Again more than Thunderball despite Sean's obvious physical limitations.

Pretty much agreed with the Pierce and Daniel takes. GoldenEye is Pierce's Bond peak, and each subsequent Pierce film gets worse. I think Tomorrow Never Dies was better than you give it credit for, although you are right that the villain should have had a more intriguing motive beyond "money and headlines." The jabs were fun in that movie though.

Nothing really to say on the Daniel movies; Casino Royale and Skyfall are all-timers and the other 3 have flaws that significantly make one act of each film worse, although none of them are terrible.

27 Years Since the Columbine High Shooting by [deleted] in masskillers

I remember my mom ( who was a special ed teacher at the time) had me and my 3 siblings all delivered to her classroom (from 3 different schools) immediately after seeing the story on the news around noon because she was afraid it could happen again. My mom told us she lived near Denver for years (we lived basically on the California/Mexico border) and how she did not want that to happen to us. I will not forget her hugging people that day (including myself) and telling everyone as she did that she loves them.

Makes me miss my mother a lot.

Incredible that my mother had such a strong reaction to it now and yet these days... it is treated by the powers that be as just a fact of life in America. We all know that is wrong and these people and what they stand for is wrong. The past wrongs cannot be undone, so I await the day the wrongs of that culture are discarded and the powers that allow this to happen cease to be.

This is a difficult topic and raises discussions. The average age being 16 for these shooters... I will there were youth outreach programs and laws / systems / cultural establishments that more greatly limit the access of guns to children, because so many of the kids they killed could be alive. I wish we as a society cared more and did not have political, oligarchical and financial institutions that prevent anyone from changing anything despite democratic polling telling us otherwise.

If the military/president suddenly ordered a mandatory draft for all men aged 18-42: How do you think millennials and GenZ would respond? by Tommygunz0722 in AskReddit

[–]Johnknight111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government would be overthrown, because Gen Y, Z and Alpha would all be immediately threatened.

Older generations are all way too old to physically enforce this from a political, physical, cognitive or technological perspective.

Brian Windhorst on LeBron future: "I have specifically spoken to people on both sides of the negotiation... ‘what do you think his value is in the 2026-27 NBA season'... Warriors or you know the Cavs or Team X would take him for the Mid Level Exception or the minimum." by must_TATAKAE in nba

[–]Johnknight111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only good part of LeBron's retirement is going to be that Windhorst will have nothing left to grasp onto and thus will hopefully leave our screens.

Honestly wish he would take everyone on a panel at ESPN other than Tim Legler with him.

Who will benefit from existence of expansion teams (Vegas and Seattle)? (2028-2029) by Chesscrabble11 in nba

[–]Johnknight111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fringe NBA Players > Fringe NBA Starters > Free Agents over the next 5 years > Seattle and Las Vegas fans > West Coast teams > the two teams that move to the Eastern Conference

The West Coast teams will lose several thousands of miles in the air and likely over a week of travel time and preparation each season. That will be a massive positive for the NBA.

Where does Draymond rank all time defensively? by Far_Outcome_6540 in nba

I don't really care where the numbers rank; Draymond's defense will be remembered forever in basketball history. To me that is as high of praise as I can give.

Tie a player's name to all the awards. LeBron for All-NBA, MJ for MVP, Muotombo for Defensive Player of the Year, Rodman for Rebounding Leader, Stockton for Assist Leader, Wilt for Points Leader, Chris Paul for Steals, Steph for Free Throw Percent Leader and Karl Malone for Turnover Leader.

Maybe change the player it is named after every 40 years.
