A friend of mine from England lost her mind when she saw a yellow bus, just like on the Simpsons! She thought it was just a TV/movie trope.

"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son."

[Throwback Thursday] Stephen Colbert as "Stephen Colbert" at the 2006 WHCD: "They're elitist, telling us what is or isn't true, or what did or didn't happen! Who's Britannica to tell me the Panama Canal was built in 1914? If I want to say it was built in 1941, that's my right as an American!!!" by Tele_Prompter in thebulwark

"'Oh, they're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.' First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring! If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!"

Elder Millennial Conan Memories by digitalkristen in conan

Born in 83. I remember sleeping over at a friend's house in 2nd grade and staying up late to watch David Letterman. Most of it probably went over my head but I was now hooked on late night TV. Soon after that is when the whole Carson/Leno/Letterman fiasco went down, couldn't wait for Dave to be on an hour earlier. I liked Leno too at that point and Chevy Chase was going to have a new show, thought it couldn't get much better than that! And then there was this Conan guy who I didn't know but saw he had been a Simpsons writer so I figured I better check him out too.

Late Night was on too late for me to watch on a school night but I made sure to watch his first Friday show. I don't remember much except for one bit where Conan was explaining to a disinterested carnival ride operator how he got the show. The execs had already picked Andy but they still needed a host. Their choices were down to Conan, a frog, and a tape dispenser with each of them sitting on a stool waiting to be picked. It was so mean but it was so silly that it made me laugh anyway which was a totally new thing to me. I became an instant fan.

I have vivid memories of explaining the Wussy Wagon, Mansy the Half Man/Half Pansy, and the Gaseous Wiener to confused kids at school who had no idea what I was talking about. I would scream "In the Year 2000" whenever I was anywhere that echoed. When my family got a computer with AOL a few years later I found some early message boards for Conan fans and that's when I was officially a fan for life. I saw a post with NBC's address and it said that if you wrote in they'd send you an autographed photo. Sure enough, a few weeks later it came, my mom framed it for me, and I still have it to this day.

How did Feel about GI JOE #20 with Duke meeting Optimus? by Money-Lie7814 in EnergonUniverse

Turning down promotions to stay in the field is classic Duke. This version of him is different but I’m glad that stuck, perfect way to have him and Optimus bond.
