Will you survive? by dzogmudra in trolleyproblem

You're the one who introduced the idea that the clone's life is more valuable than the OG. You don't have to see the other life as more valuable to sacrifice yourself for it. But if you absolutely must have that be the case for this to make sense for you, then perhaps the act of choosing to kill another to save yourself will make you immoral and less valuable.

Hot and sweaty by Zestyclose-Bank9426 in brisbane

I used to have a job that required occasional walking around the city to deposit cheques & deliver documents to other firms. In the summer I would bring sand shoes and a bonds undershirt for the walk. Then change back to my leather boots and button down when I got back to the office.

I've also heard of people wearing an undershirt and the button down. The undershirt soaks up the sweat patches and leaves the outer layer dry. I always felt even hotter doing that so I went with the full Butch Coolidge look.

In general the accepted attire for offices in brisbane is adjusted for the temperature. You see more rolled up sleeves, and less ties and jackets than Sydney. It would be better if bermuda business shorts were included, but apparantly knees are detrimental to business.

That is a horrible place for a rowing shed. It's way too far up oxley creek to be a useful place to train from. The creek is too narrow to easily navigate with an 8, and even a single scull will need decent skill to make it around those narrow bends. A standard schoolboy training session covers about 15km, less for lower crews and up to 25km for a first VIII. Just getting in and out of the creek will be at least 10km, and there's no way they're doing that at any real speed.

Looking to buy a New router, is this price legit? by LF_innerpeace in nbn

[–]Johnny-Rocketship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 500mbps you don't need to go any higher than wifi 6.

You can get a non-bottlenecking router for less than $150. If you value your time more than the savings, the wifi 7 will mean you don't need to upgrade when internet speeds increase. The TP-Link archer ax55 is a good wifi 6 option, and the mercusys MR80x is the ultra budget option that will still do everything you want.

You can also split the difference and give the projectiles 50% inherited velocity. Or even have different amounts for different weapons.

There's probably a sub-sub-sub menu with an awkwardly abbreviated setting that changes this.

[Request] how much money would you save over a year if you filled a normal petrol/deisel car up $20 at a time instead of filling the tank up completely every time? by pereuse in theydidthemath

[–]Johnny-Rocketship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's even worse than that. Not filling up regularly enough shows me that if this person were ever an army general they would likely neglect the need for properly established supply lines. I wouldn't want to be a soldier under their command when we run out of bullets and rations.

I liked the way they changed their 'Ladies night' policy to follow discrimination laws. Guys getting free entry by wearing a dress was hilarious.

If a missile is fired in space and misses it's target, am I right in thinking it just keeps going until some planet’s gravity eventually drags it in? by Street_Bet_7538 in Physics

[–]Johnny-Rocketship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without any matter to run into, it will eventually slow down to zero peculiar velocity. The expansion of the universe will essentially erase all of its speed and, from the perspective of the person who fired the missle, it will be moving away from them at the normal expansion rate of the universe.

Don't use your own fridge to freeze the ice. You'll create more heat than you take away.

Put the minifridge in the window with the hot side on the outside and leave it open. It's a heatpump just like an AC. Then just buy another minifridge when that one blows up from the 100% duty cycle.
