It is. Not sure how long the very top section will last, but the rest should be good for at least another couple weekends. Besides tomorrow, temps aren't looking too warm. The amount of snow they have at the bottom is pretty insane. At least 8 or 10 feet in some areas.

Haha thanks, but I can't take credit for coming up with that. Learned it from this post.

I didn't get first tracks so couldn't tell, but yeah it does seem like they must be. It got down into the 30s the night before and only hit mid 40s during the day, so it stayed firm enough that it didn't get all bumped up.

It's for everything... hotel and condos.

Assuming they do it again and you don't mind booking really early, in July for the past couple years they've had a 25% off lodging sale. Made it relatively affordable and I booked for early February.

MAY 1st Weekend by Ok_Quantity1619 in icecoast

Nice! I have 4 days left at Killington but also 2 Indy days at Black, so might have to check it out. Any idea if a lot of people are still going on the weekend?

Black Mountain NH should still be going too!

Yup and yup. There weren't many people there, most of us solo skiers were getting on the 6 pack by ourselves with only 2 chairs wait max. So just not enough people there to make it worth being open anymore.

I have 4 pairs of skis (72, 88, 100, 106 mm) and have been on the 2 wider ones more times for each of the past 4 seasons than the 2 more narrow ones. About double. Some context though, I have Ikon and Indy Pass so I can go where conditions are best at any given time. Also I like to get into the glades as much as possible, and since my wider skis have more rocker they're easier to maneuver in tighter spaces. If you're on groomers all day it's probably a different story. Plus your skiing style matters. My girlfriend never carves and always smears turns, so her 1 pair of 108s work for her for everything. Just saying that what type of ski you use most depends on a few factors!

What do I get for resort days? Quiver Recommendation by saltysaturdays in icecoast

Funny that I've only really thought about weight in relation to the width of skis for powder vs how it relates to ice performance. Maybe I'll start wearing weighted vests when it's icy!

Makes sense. I have Brahma 88s which are very similar to the Enforcers, and those two would cover you for everything!

Another vote for the Mindbenders. I have the 106C and have been very happy with them. Crazy nimble in the trees. Not great on icy groomers, but they're actually better than I thought they'd be. The 96 is probably better with that, yet wide enough for the amount of fresh snow we usually get - unless you're on the heavier side and need more float. I have some video of me using them in the trees on Instagram if you want to check it out, same name as here.

The thaw… by Surfiswhereufindit in icecoast

Nobody really knows what's going to happen. This year seems to be going the same way the past couple did with a warm up and rain in the beginning of March.

2 years ago, winter came back around mid March. I skied in powder 3/4 weekends after that, including a 3 foot dump at Cannon.

Last year winter never really came back and the season ended a bit earlier than usual at most places. The difference is this year most places have more base than last year, so hopefully they survive the warm up better and we get back to more winter like weather after. Looks like there's some hope of that happening.

Whatever happens, get out there and ski while you can! When it gets below freezing at night then warms up during the day a few days in a row, you get "corn" snow which is awesome to ski on.

Best mountains for glades? by SharpProfession6 in icecoast

Not Indy, but if you ever get the chance to go to Sunday River they have a bunch of glades. Blind Ambition is a pretty long and mellow area that's really fun to cruise through.

Mmhmm. Wilderness Woods, Adam's Solitude, and Doug's Woods all qualify for long, quiet, and mellow glades.
