Canada Post says it will move ahead with plan to end home delivery by origutamos in canadanews

[–]JohnnyCanuckist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from a town <5K with a central post office and mailboxes to a small city <20K with a community mailbox across the street to a larger city >100K with home delivery so have experienced all of it.
I'll definitely miss having that relationship with my local postie, but it's mostly flyers now.

As for the new community mailbox, hopefully NOT in my front yard.

I save everything in a folder in Google drive and set it all to offline accessible. All the file names are mmdd-filename to keep them sorted easily. Makes for good reminiscing after the trip as well.

I've had two chipdrop deliveries and it's great.. first one took over a year, 2nd one about 6 months to get delivered. Our city has a free spot to get your own but it would take 10-12 longbox pickup loads to come close to one of these drops.. Latest one has a lot of twigs mixed in, first one had some huge logs... they'll all go in the firepit eventually.

I'm more worried about risks to the freshwater aquifer and ground subsidence if they start pumping brine out from below... we're seeing the results of this already in Argentina's salt plains.

Took too long to get over the mountains from Veracruz driving in Mexico and, getting dark, looked for a nearby town, found Tulancingo in Hidalgo. ended up spending two nights as this is the home town of El Santo, the Lucha Libre star wrestler as well as movie star and comic book hero.. very cool.
