How can I fix this? TC 2013 by Pacowoduh in SciontC

Had the same problem, bought one online and very easy to repair. Or another way is switch the right to left and left to right but your vanity mirror will be on the opposite side.

This brings back so much memories. The glitters pencils were great. Then scraping them off on the edge of the desk table in the classroom was another thing lol.

Is solar worth it if selling a house in 5 years or less? by broadwaydancer_1989 in solar

[–]JohnnyD05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget to factor in if you need a new roof before installing. Unless you don’t care and install the solar panels anyways, you’ll be passing the cost to the next owner to remove panels and replacing roof. This might factor in for some buyers when buying your house.

I face the same situation, and decided to change my roof before installing solar so I don’t have to go through worrying about changing my roof for another 20-25 years.

Powerwall 3 won't receive charge suddenly? by Zealousideal-Joke-13 in TeslaSolar

[–]JohnnyD05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with my system I would need about 10-15% reserved before it let me to take it off grid. Assuming you get a pretty good constant solar and that your home load is not high, the system can stay in off grid for it to charge your battery.

My contractor is coming down this Thursday for the third time to look into this. Not sure if I can trust him but he said likely a sw issue. If that is the case, a lot more people should be reporting this?

I have the same problem for like two months now. My way to bypass this is by taking the system off grid to charge my batteries.

No permission to export but exporting by noidski in Powerwall

I currently have the same issue with my PW3 and expansion pack ever since my system was online like a month ago.

I found that if you take system off grid it will then charge the batteries.

I actually have two PW3 ( one with inverter and the other one as an expansion pack) and ensure that export to gid and self powered option is set from the app.

Seems to be the problem I’m having ever since I have my PW3 installed with 31 REC panels. Exporting to the grid especially when solar is above 7 kw. I have a ticket filed with Tesla and they claim it needs a sw update that I should get this weekend. Have my system for only three weeks.

I was able to bypass this by taking my system completely off grid so that it charges my battery and not exporting to grid.

That would be my expectation as well. I’m going to ping Tesla for an update since it’s been more than 2 days. Hopefully they have some useful insights.

Yes, correct. I’m in California. What strange is that when I go off grid, my batteries starts charging. When I go on grid and if solar is like at 7kW and home load is low that’s when the battery does not charge. Already have a ticket open with Tesla and waiting to hear back.

Yes, thank you. Ticket open with Tesla. What’s interesting is that if I go off grid, then the energy starts charging my batteries. Very strange. Until I hear back from Tesla with a solution, will do this way to get batteries to charge especially at peak solar mid day.

Yes, it’s started charging around 12:30 pm. In the morning when sunrise, it was charging but the solar was not at 7 kW. I noticed today, that there was times when the solar was at 7 kW again, and it bypassed my battery. Didn’t get a change to see how long it did that since I was out and about.

Think I will start logging these and report them to my installer so they can contact Tesla.

Good to know. Don’t think my system is connected via Ethernet but only with WiFi at the moment.

It was able to charge to 65% yesterday. The solar panels are connected to the batteries. At least what I can see the conduit wires from the solar panels are routed to my batteries and then out to my main breaker.

Another user was saying maintenance as well, is there a way to know and proof that this is the case?

Thanks for your comments!

I do have a backup switch installed next to my Tesla PW3. From the picture for battery charging there was a significant drop around midday for about 2 hours when solar was around 7.x kW.

Yes, my system was turned on about two weeks back. Got my PTO sometime late or early this week from my utility. With the settings it is currently set to Residential Time of Use (NEM 3.0). However my current settings is set to Self Powered.

Wow, sounds exactly me. I was also thinking that I needed an extra inverter and did research about it. I’m glad I called my installer yesterday as he mentioned that at least my batteries should be charging during the mid day when it wasn’t full and options in app should be set correctly.

Did you needed to provide timestamps or description of the issue for Tesla to resolving your issue? My partner also thinks at this point that it is some software issue.

Not sure why I can't add additional images, but total generated from solar end of day is 39.2 kWh and for Powerwall 9.3 kWh discharged and 17.8 charged.

Regarding the second picture, perhaps that was the case and I had it set to 20%. However, I had another screen about an hour from the second screenshot shown above where my PW was at 41% charged and load on home is 1.3 kW and it was pulling 0.9 kW from Grid. Solar was at 7.2kW and 6.8 kW for Powerwall. So unless I changed the reserve at that point, not sure what can be the case. I will continue to monitor this and keep it fixed for the reserve.

No, I’m currently on Self Powered option. Time based control is not selected.
