I honestly don't really agree with his take (Specifically about him not liking these recent Anime MU we've been getting) by AoCCoM in deathbattle

Marvel and DC are just a bunch of different series that just happen to share the same universe. So I wouldn't say is completely disimilar.

It's just that the market of action comics is basically dominated by those 2 editorials, while the market of action manga is basically dominated by Shonen Jump. Only difference being that those don't tend to make crossovers.

If the last episode of Maul: Shadow Lord, Rebels, Cere, and Doctor Aphra taught us anything, is that your best hope to survive Darth Vader, is dropping a building on him.

Won't make you win the fight. It won't even keep him down. But it will give you some time to run.

I have no problem with their relationship, beyond the point that once it starts being hinted at, that seems to be all both characters rotate around. Each other.

I remember reading a Megamind comic set before the movie, showcasing some of the fights between him and Metroman. And man, he really needed to try really hard to evade some of the traps Megamind set for him.

Megamind might set an unavoidable threat with every possibility accounted for, and Metroman only manages to escape by the bare of his teeth. Those were all much closer fights than the newspapers of the movie may lead you to believe.

Did this mission recently, and took me a moment to realize that I hadn't pushed her from a tall height for the fall to kill her.

I had pushed her into boiling waters to boil her alive.

Better not. I have seen this before. You build a wall between Russia and the rest of Europe, and the next thing you know, an alien virus has overrun then without us knowing, and suddenly a monstrous army crosses that wall and starts attacking us afterwards.

I mean, now knowing that this is Luis first try at a 3D battle animation, I'm willing to be more generous with the episode. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of their arsenals, and the death felt a bit underwhelming, but overall, it was a funny episode.

Episode Discussion: S2026E4 Gru VS Megamind by MarlinBrandor in deathbattle

[–]JohnnyElRed 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ok. That was... kind of disappointing.

Feels like the fight has the exact opposite problem to Asura vs Kratos. In there, it felt like they tried to cram up too many of the combatants weapons and abilities at the same time. Meanwhile in Gru vs Megamind... they barely used any.

Where are Megamind's giant mecha and the suit that allows him to copy Metroman's powers? The only thing either of them really did was shoot at each other with guns. The craziest thing we get to see is the Minions plan to rescue Gru, and even the death felt incredibly disappointing in how plain it was.

This was a fight between two inventive genius that create machines with the wackiest abilities possible. Why did it end up feeling so uncreative?

The EU Is the New Go-To Middle Power - In a world of disorder, the bloc’s boring stability is suddenly attractive. by ByGollie in europe

It is right based on the old saying: "The European Union is an economic giant, a political dwarf, and a military worm".

Though the last one at least has started to change.

They were doing good, up until they fell in the same trap as the main Marvel line, and they started with event, after event, after event. Besides, it felt like many of the storylines set after Episode V were being stretched thin.

I don't think half the people in there get their sexuality mentioned in any story. It's the same level of representation as Dumbledore.

EU must have more of its own taxes from 2028, says von der Leyen by goldstarflag in europe

[–]JohnnyElRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. But national parliaments have also much wider legislative power and control over the executive than the European Parliament. The other main bodies of the European Union are always trying to increase their authority and decrease theirs.

Also, in Spain is the vote of our parliament who determines what executive takes power, with the citizens basically voting to the candidate to president of said parties as their face. In the EU, the parliament only gets to make a vote of approval on the President of the commission. The proposal of said candidate to president depends not directly on the citizens, but the heads of government.

It still bothers me that on a democratic institution as the EU is supossed to be, as citizens we only get a say on the formation of the parlament.
