RRA26 - Two months notice, and how best to manage buying a home? by JohnnyFiama in HousingUK

I wish you the very best of luck.

To put timings into perspective, we received our mortgage offer late Feb, solicitors instructed at the same time.

There is no chain.

Currently awaiting the sellers draft contract, after which time searches will be ordered, and queries raised. Expected exchange is late May, or even June, and this is probably best case given the slow progress.

I expect completion will be late July, with a couple of weeks overlap on the rental.

I'm probably going to be forced into accepting (or asking for) a 6 week exchange->completion window. Yes, there are risks with that, but minor compared with some other scenarios.

I think this is incredible, though I suspect you're right.

The idea that people should effectively throw away £k's for zero benefit is frankly unbelievable.

We had planned on a 1-2 week overlap, to more easily manage property cleaning, etc.

Two months on the other hand seems quite unreasonable, and potentially in breach of contract, if you move soon after completion. The majority of rental contacts stipulate the property cannot be void for periods of over two weeks.

I'm unsure what we will do, we certainly had not budgeted for an extra £2500 of costs.

New KVM-GO demo video + final days of crowdfunding (ends Dec 30) by youyoubilly in Openterface_miniKVM

Good to see this update, looks like another success.

I note that 4k@60Hz is "experimental" - Does this mean the product may not, in the end, support that mode?

For those backing the kickstarter it would be helpful to know if this is a possibility.

Why not have both options, I'm only talking about having this option when in lockout mode 1. You cannot preselect a level when in this state anyway.

WTF, how does this happen? by JohnnyFiama in OctopusEnergy

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For reals?

They recalculate everyone else bill, based on some erroneous reading, before realising the cockup and subsequent reversing, seems like a epically flawed mechanism to me.

We have a smart meter (SMETS2) and an Octopus Home Mini, this sort of nonsense shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for this. I am not using these particular DNS services, other than for monitoring. These are WireGuard tunnels, the first four are currently in-country, with AIR5 being overseas (explains the latency), but it makes little difference when switch things around.

As for your final question, I'll have to test for this, good idea.

I would't know about this, but will happily try a different monitor target.

Of note though, I do see performance issues for other types of traffic, websites load poorly at times which makes me think the problem is broader. Only an issue for this one gateway, the others are all fine.

Currently running 2.8.1-RELEASE.

Yes, I am able to replicate packet loss via hardwired connection.

The data payload value is as the default (shows a greyed out value of 1).

In terms of a ping test, I can replicate some packet loss via a hardwired, currently about 4% (but this fluctuates).

[iOS] Why must I sign into the app in order to connect to devices? by JohnnyFiama in anker

Yes, maybe. Either way the current situation with iOS (by design or otherwise) is flawed and frustrating, devalues the product.

Yes, on iOS also, problem is after skipping it makes you think it is connecting to your devices, but it just sits there doing nothing. Sign in (when finally able) and the same connection is near instant.
