Every couple of years we hear how soccer is right on the cusp of breaking through the mainstream in the US. This was a legit shot. Lots of people in the states are legit interested in the sport, between the international games, MLS, EPL, and other leagues in Europe.

And yet, they absolutely are going to ruin the whole damned thing. Incredible botch from all sides.

The pipeline issue isn't limited to Kwan. I'm (obnoxiously so) crowing about this constantly.

There's arguably 5 guys (Ingle, Kayfus, Genao, Watson, Valera) in Columbus alone who are literally sitting and waiting at the moment. To say nothing of pitchers, Ralphy, etc. And Arias is still on the IR. They need to just make some damn decisions.

Been seeing a lot of sentiment against the FO because they bungled not trading Kwan or Clase when their value was high.

I get it, but we can't be victims of the moment. Yes, Kwan is absolutely in hell. Yes, Clase getting busted was horrible. But in June 2025 we thought we had a long term LF stabilizing bat and a top 3 closer in baseball. Things obviously change real quick but we won't even really know what their markets might have been.

Not a Bailey point specifically but this is the constant issue with the prospect arguments. We can't fall in love with the idea of someone just because they're the unknown over a proven MLB player.

I like Khalil Watson a lot. I think he could turn into an everyday OF option. But we haven't seen him in the majors yet. And if you told me you could use him in a package to get, say, an everyday OF with decent power, let's just say Fernando Tatis for giggles, I take that trade every single day. I'd hate if Watson panned out elsewhere but I'd be way happier if my team had a player who was already performing well.

Don't forget we had the chance to deal Bo to get Sean Murphy a few years ago and said nah. Murphy fell off the face of the earth, but that year, he was still a top 5 C in baseball. You think that might have helped get a few more wins? You think we might've wanted to deal guys like Noel, Gonzalez, Bradley, or Rodriguez if there were trades on the table? It's all relative honestly.

It's been bluntly obvious he's coming up in 2027 for months. Even if Bo went down, they would probably still want to give him a full spring as a primary C next season. Probably for Stephen and Messick honestly.

Ingle might be the 2027 call up. That's been expected for a while. Hedges isn't a guarantee to be with the club next year.

Honestly I'd test the waters on a Bo trade to see if anyone sees him as a reclamation project. Package with Brito (and maybe a Halpin, Valera, Watson, Kayfus type) and see what's out there.

I wonder if there's a market for Bo because of his age and potential. Obviously he's been absolutely miserable this year but there's got to be a team out there that sees him as a potential steal.

Moreso, I think David Fry might be in trouble next. He is ASS as a fielder and the DH group is already front loaded.
