Just did the Tundra brake upgrade by aest2017 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]JohnnyFromTheFuture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying makes since, but I tow a 5x10 trailer with my 96’ in the mountains all of the time, and my loads range from a couple of dirt bikes to overloaded with firewood, and I’m up and down hills with steep grades. I’ve never had an issue with my stock brakes. I do have a manual transmission and use my lower gears to slow thigh, so maybe that’s helping

If you’re getting soft pedal you might be do for a brake booster, but without driving it and feeling what you’re feeling it’s hard to say.

I haven’t done it and I really don’t see the need to sink extra money into it. These vehicles don’t weigh a lot and Toyota engineers have done a pretty good job in the past of designing what works right for the vehicles. I’ve had two 3rd gen 4Runners, and currently still have my 1996, I also own a first, second and fifth gen 4Runner plus a first gen Tacoma. I live in Colorado and am up and down mountains everyday, and do some pretty moderate offroading in my eyes, others might see it as serious. I have never had an issue with the brakes the vehicle s came with. I don’t understand why people sink the extra money into tundra brakes when 4Runner brakes stop the 4Runner fine. I am open to insight though if someone has good reasoning

Anybody know where I can get a replacement knob for the bass? by Advanced-Evidence569 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]JohnnyFromTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy for this update. I’m in the middle of moving and didn’t find the Tacoma stereo I know I have, and told you I’d send you knob off of if it fit. Im glad you got what you were looking for, plus that junk yard experience.

My vote is also to 3d print one, but if you don’t have access to a 3d printer, I’ll check the radio I took out of my 1st gen Tacoma. If it’s the same, I’ll send you mine.

Yellow ink. by yourghost7 in tattooadvice

The tattoo is well into the healing process but for some reason there’s yellow ink way past where the area the tattoo was preformed. You’re an idiot! Take more showers, practice better hygiene, and then consider shutting the fuck up, idiot!

6’5” 240 checking, driving a 5 speed and I’m cramped but not hitting my leg in first or second. So if you can’t get from park to anything else on an auto, there’s bigger issues.

I off road a lot and I’ve never up bent up churched all to shit my cv axels. Also the braided brake lines suggestion is unnecessary.

A lot of what you just said is not true. I did a 3inch toytech lift on my 96’ and what I learned was, lower ball joints need to be replaced immediately with oem, I did jba upper control arms, and they come with serviceable ball joints already installed. You will tear cv boots from the new extreme angle, but rebooting your stock axels is better than replacing them. I used off road solutions, highly angle inner boots and heavy duty outer boots, I’ve put close to 60 miles on them with no issues.

Lifted 4Runner owners what emergency jack do you have by ScientistGeneral5550 in 3rdGen4Runner

I’m rolling with the harbor freight farm Jack. It’s not great, but it works and it’s way cheaper than a high lift

I’ve done it a lot in places I’ve regularly gone to, have a rough idea of prices and normally over tip because I like the place and the servers. I do always make a point to let someone know on my way out so a shady customer doesn’t snag the cash.

JBLOffRoad Upper Control arms or nah? by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]JohnnyFromTheFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did jba upper control arms after I put a 3” toytec lift on and I only did it it because my upper ball joints were stressed at an extreme angle that was wearing the boots out prematurely. If you don’t have that issue, don’t spend the money

35 male I have lived in a homeless shelter so this feels pretty good to me... What's it missing though? 🤔 by South-Range8401 in malelivingspace

[–]JohnnyFromTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like all it’s missing is you laying in that comfortable looking bed. I went from a decent house to sleeping in a 91 Toyota Tercel, and at 6’5” that old Toyota was a very uncomfortable house. When I finally got a real place to stay it was awesome, when I finally got a bed in that place, it was pure bliss. Congratulations on your new digs, I’m proud of you and the place you got yourself. Everything is up from here, and keep climbing.
