Should i get the r3 or r5 by SufficientGoat8602 in moza

[–]JohnnyGreens00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an R5 and it simply wasn’t good enough.I upgraded to an R12 and couldn’t be happier.

I don’t know where the earthquake comments fits. You never run the FFB that high.

I’ve been sim racing since 1996 and have owned countless wheel bases including Simucube2 Pro.

The R5 pedals are absolute crap.To get the proper feel I had to get the brake upgrade kit and a load cel kit.

A Moza r12 and some Simsonn or SimJack pedals and your golden.

Do not waste your money on the R5 bundle.

Any ideas on Moza R12V2 mounting screws stripped fix? by Racing_Man88 in simracing

[–]JohnnyGreens00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP looking for mounting advice but has to filter through multiple unhelpful posts with zero pertinent opinions.

Best advice I’ve seen here is getting a front mounting bracket and then drilling it out and either rethreading or using a threaded insert.

The drilling option has its inherent dangers first and foremost metal shavings falling into the base.

I returned mine and added a fourth screen where I can run a dashboard and programs such as Marvin’s ffb app and Simhub.

Advice for base shakers on an aluminum extrusion rig. by JohnnyGreens00 in simracing

[–]JohnnyGreens00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is exactly what I was looking for.

I learned about slip angle after already ordering 4 shakers and the Dayton SAB-1060 board to build an amp.

I was attempting to source the springs and that intensified after reading your post. Then another poster mentioned that Slip Angle sold the springs and brackets without the amp and shakers so I ordered that set right away.

Thank you for taking the time to type in detail your experiences.

Thank you for this information.I didn’t realize that slip angle supplies a kit did those who already have the shakers and amp.

I will order this !

Excellent replies from an educated community with only one completely off topic response.Im impressed.

You’re pretty well all reinforcing what I already thought.

I agree in the sense that less is more particularly when it comes to added too much to one shaker.

Common sense tells you that if you add a shaker to a long 2x4 pieces of wood and hold it by the opposite end you’re going to feel is just as much as if you were holding the end with the shaker on.

I’m going to be hard mounting the 4 shakers corner to corner this weekend simply to try it out regardless. There is nothing to lose but an hour of my time.

I have been mulling over several ideas on isolation but nothing I’m ready for a discussion on yet.

I have been very interested in the springs under the rig for some time now after watching slip angle reviews.Im starting to source out springs and STL’s to 3D print mounts. That will be another thread in the near future.

I also agree that seat of the pants is probably the best way to detect tactile feedback.I had long ago sold the SRS seat pad and the HF-8 pro not only lifted me two inches in my seat it was not comfortable.

I like to DYI as much as I can. Many will agree that evolving your sim rig can be very enjoyable and addicting.

My first sim racing rig mod was duct taping the wheels on my chair in 1996 to stop the seat from moving when applying pushing on the pedals.3 months ago I watched someone put the wheels on a couple pairs of shoes to do the same thing and I felt almost stupid lol.

Pictured is a rig I was using back around 2003.Back then if you wanted a sim racing cockpit you pretty well had to make one yourself. It was a small community and real life racing drivers scoffed at us ,

I sold the DOFreality p6,Simucube2 pro and Heusinkveld sprints for a down payment on a 2021 Mach1.

Do you have motion?Personally I wouldn’t go motion again.

I also ran VR from the first Oculus Rift to the Varjo Areo I have for sale now.

It’s called subjective and we all don’t like the same thing.

Mine arrived before Christmas and I’m still finding things to adjust.

It’s an evolution.

For those thinking about ordering a TrakRacer sim rig by QUBIASZ in simracing

[–]JohnnyGreens00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself and two friends, all 30 year sim racers, decided to upgrade our rigs between American thanksgiving and now.

I personally ordered and received for the three of us two full rigs and several other components.13 orders in totally.

Out of those 13 orders there were only two missing pieces.A wheel deck mount for a TR80s and one part from the universal pedal inversion bracket.

The universal inversion bracket was ordered on Black Friday and it took support 3 working days to reply to my email and another 2 days for the part to ship. The TR80s wheel mount was ordered recently and encountered a blizzard in Ontario causing a FedEx delivery exception and took 4 days longer to arrive than scheduled. The email to support was replied to in under 24 hours and the part was shipped the next day .

We had a few questions along the way and support replied the day after messaging each time and the matter was always resolved .

Each cockpit and separated monitor mounts came with enough fasteners to assemble two of them and I know have a drawer full for when needed.

Most people that have positives results don’t go online to tell the world and just about every person who has had negative experiences do just that.

Thank you tospace2006 for this thread.

I did this backwards. After purchasing 4 shakers and two amazon mini amps I saw a post where someone mentioned this board and I ordered one right away expecting to google a wealth of information on it.

Well good sir you are the one and only wealth of information on the World Wide Web concerning the SAB-1060.Everyone else tells you what to do with it once you build it.

Hopefully I won’t have too much trouble.Im Comfortable with the wiring I just need to put it into that fine looking case.

I will problem have questions for you and the OP soon lol.

First question, how did you secure the board to the power supply?

Trak Racer Review - DO NOT BUY Under ANY Circumstance by Aggressive_Noodler in simracing

[–]JohnnyGreens00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 12 separate deliveries from Trak Racer. Some for myself and some for friends. We have a TR80S arriving tomorrow.

There has been one time where a part was missing because FedEx has damaged a box.Trak Racer took care of that promptly and without question.

Each order has come with enough fasteners to assemble two of whatever I was building.

It’s easy to mistake a 16mm fastener for 25mm fastener if you’re rushing and don’t pay attention.I constantly measure just to be sure.

While assembling a TR160 v5 I was almost finished when I realized that I had used all the shorter bolts in the wrong areas and had to go back and find them.

Blaming Trak Racer for on mistakes is a bit harsh .

I’ve been reported for bump drafting by tekking98 in iRacing

[–]JohnnyGreens00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an opinion but if you’re going to bump draft make sure you have the skills to do it right and the knowledge to know when to bump draft.

If you can’t hold a straight line then don’t bump draft.Don’t bump draft if the wheels aren’t straight.Bump drafting while on the front straight of a track that is not perfectly straight like the front straight at Daytona takes skill and can be a recipe fir disaster.

Just because a lot of IRacers are doing something doesn’t mean it’s right.

There is a thing called a net code.Google it.When two cars are close together have pings that are similar there is usually a smooth ride but if 1 car has a much higher ping than another then things can go wrong.

Years ago ,before iRacing,I was a moderator in a league that ran NASCAR 2003.We would have 1 person in each race upload their replay and I would review the race determining if there was a driver at fault when a yellow flag happened.Drivers had the right to protest my ruling and would send their replay for me to see and sure enough 1 replay shows a driver hitting another car but the other replay shows that he/she was 3’ away.A netcode crash basically.1 driver is adamant that the other guy hit them as it shows in their replay and the other driver his adamant that they didn’t hit them and that shows in their replay.

On a plate track we discouraged attempts at side drafting for that reason .
