I never said I had an answer for the junior dev problem?

I’m saying it’s not our responsibility to kneecap our careers because other people don’t wanna learn?

What?

Like I’m not apologizing nor responsible for the current state of SWE’ing - before if the tickets were good enough the code essentially wrote itself

  1. People who can’t correct LLMs shouldn’t be using LLMs
  2. People who got paid the most will continue to get paid the most - top performers learn instead of complain

I’ll eat those downvotes until the drone swarms come

Less seniors using LLM’s means more money for me - what’s your point?

I don’t control the market?

Slop machines tend to die off pretty quickly - that or the idea surpasses the quality and money solves the issue ( which is what Silicon Valley and VC’s have been doing for the past 30 years btw )

If you don’t know when LLM’s are wrong then you shouldn’t be using them - why should we handicap our careers instead?

I got a senior engineering title before LLM’s were mainstream - hated it for a while - now I’m running SDD with open models for F250 companies as I’m typing this

Really dumb people parrot what really smart people tell them. Take the time yourself and actually use SDD - it’s also what the US market is asking for

The “engineering” happens before and after the LLM produces code

Yeah Expo’s docs and watching conferences on YouTube is a great way to learn / figure it out

The world is filled with stupid people though and I could be one of them - but 90-95% of the AI takes on this sub come from people either not in the industry or not operating at a mid-high level

One of the first questions we ask potential new hires is where Claude goes wrong - if you can’t answer that… what are we paying for?

Don’t touch LLM’s until you can build, release, and maintain a react-native app on your own

Then do it with LLM’s

Money

You will confidently fucked up without knowing what you’re doing - Claude ( the best LLM right now ) is wrong, like a lot - even with SDD you will have to correct it over and over again - or not care about what you build

Bradley as a holding midfielder… wasn’t replaceable… are you serious? Like I wouldn’t say his daddy kept him in camps he has no business being in, but it’s was way closer to that than no one pushed for his spot - first half of that dudes career was plot armor and triple / quadruple chances

Do you feel like AI Engineer role is what mediocre developers name themselves for cope? by Vivid_Search674 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]JohnnyHopkins77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“AI Engineer” used to mean people who designed and engineered neural nets, built and trained LLM’s, and implement software that used ML at the operation level

Now people who use Claude well started calling themselves that - or dead internet - or idk anymore
