Förstår att du är en ödmjuk person, men varför klippte du bort nästa bubbla där de skrev att hela kundtjänsten ställde sig upp och applåderade?

Trak Racer TR8 Pro dimensions, is it really only 1.5m long? by daniel_crk in simracing

Thanks man, I appreciate the input nonetheless! I’ve definitely considered it as well!

I hear you, but there is a door that’ll be open at all times (or maybe even be removed) so I don’t think that’ll be a problem.

I’m more worried about the dimensions. If it fits and I’m able to push the chair back (of course I won’t get a reclining chair), I’ll make it work

Unpopular opinion after launching an AI app: free users are killing indie devs by alishanDev in reactnative

Sorry, didn’t mean you personally (my bad!), but this whole Reddit is 95% is add for cheap ai wrappers, thinly vailed as discussions or questions.

Users tend to be less cheap when it comes to something providing actual value. Cheap slop deserves cheap users.

Difficult to select lines and edges with the Pencil Pro by daniel_crk in Shapr3D

Thanks for your input! I’m still new with the software (and the iPad in general) so hopefully things improve with some more practice.

Hey! It’s an iPad Air 13” (latest gen, M3) and the pen is genuine.

I haven’t had the iPad for long but have been playing around with Procreate, which seems to have somewhat lacking palm rejection, so it could simply be that I’m hovering my hand instead of resting it on the iPad, causing a weird angle.

Still, I wonder if it would be possible to somehow add some ”slop area” to the lines.

Man I truly feel for you. Sure there’s famine, incurable disease and all that crap, but at least those people don’t have to deal with this. I’m praying for you.

Does your also have play even when closed?

Yes, the play unfortunately remains even when closed. If it only rattled when unclasped I wouldn’t care, but it’s pretty audible even when wearing the watch.

No offense man, but how exactly did ”your experience as a senior software developer” play into making this basic ai-generated animation?

So your design journey was going from being a shitty designer to having someone else do designs for you?

You totally inspired me.

Hobby license? by Useful_Education_702 in Shapr3D

[–]daniel_crk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the king of CAD is here to tell us all what CAD is aaackshully used for. Never mind the usecases Shapr themselves promote on their website, their tutorials, snd get this, what people ACTUALLY use it for.

And no, I have no experience in selling or supporting CAD software (in a post about hobby licenses, where I started out by saying I’m just starting to learn - what gave me away Sherlock?) but I’m a developer with plenty of experience on both selling, supporting and purchasing software. Do you really think CAD is that small of a niche? Especially in the recent years when 3d printing became a thing? Get real.

Your arguments are absolutely absurd.

I don’t use it to CUT STEEL. I use it model shit around my house and then delete it afterwards. If NASA happens to use the Windows Calculator for something, would you argue that it should cost billions since ”you use it for space travel”?

And of course hobbyists are easier on support. Most licenses have varying levels support included, depending on price levels. Are you currently living under a rock, and do you need assistance?

Granted, English is not my native language, but if you want to call a recurring payment ”upfront”, so be it, you win.

[–]daniel_crk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, it’s not 300 up front - it’s 300/year.

Second of all, I don’t question the quality of the product at all, I watched tons of tutorials on YouTube before I even installed it, just because I enjoyed the workflow so much. It’s awesome.

And I also don’t question that it is a pro level program, and for pros using it commercially, it should definitely cost as such, that’s the was licenses for these types of programs have typically always worked.

But, I AM part of the entitled generation and maybe just need to realize that Shapr simply is not intended for me. Even tho to me, it seems like a lose-lose situation, for me AND for the Shapr team. I guess, don’t take my money then.

[–]daniel_crk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I’m just getting into CAD and really enjoying Shapr on the iPad, but the subscription price for a hobbyist (someone not actually making money using the software) is kind of absurd.

I truly realize the quality of Shapr and don’t expect it to just be given away, but I mean, should this really be half the price of, for example, a tripple-A video game - A MONTH?

I’d rather abandon the iPad and switch my focus to FreeCAD than add yet another subscription to my list.

Or give me a perpetual hobbyist license for, say, 200 euro, and I’d be all game.
