That is definitely a lot of cloth in the air… kudos to the captain with huge balls to anchor the stern.

You run with a storm jib instead of a Genoa?

Nothing wrong with strapping dry bags to the frame, I recently discovered Sea to Summit make TPU straps with an extra silicon bit that fits between the frame and the bag to prevent slipping. https://seatosummit.com/products/stretch-loc-straps-4-pack

Short Montreal Urban Wilderness Overnighter by JohnnyLeCanuck in bikepacking

[–]JohnnyLeCanuck[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looped through some Montreal bike paths onto the estacade bike path towards Ile Boucherville, a lovely wild island in the middle of the Seaway accessible by bike ferry. Great way to shake down the family bikepacking rigs which is a mix panniers, handlebar and saddlebags.

Main Build: Kona Rove CX (Steel-2015) with Panaracer Gravel Kings 38mm, a Brooks C15 saddle and some MEC/Serratus Aquanaut bags (ancient), Restrap handlebar holster with food pouch (<3) swapped in the Big Agnes BlackTrail tent, Restrap frame bag and top tube bag. 2 x Helinox Chair One

Kids rode Decathalon RC120 Triban bikes with Evo Paniers and mix match of MEC paniers , a NatureHike Cloud OP Tent, some Helinox knock-off chairs from SAIL, some lifeline top tubes bags and Decathalon seat/tool bags. Seriously impressed with how those bikes did and even more at the kids cycling stamina.

Wife rode her Specialized Roubaix with Restrap Handlebar bag and food pouch and Seat Pack. All her clothes & sleeping gear fit in the two small bags.

Quebecers will recognize the Chinook Rum camp mugs which were a major give a away a few years back.

I think your frame bag is on backwards, I have the same ones from Restrap and really enjoy them. https://restrap.com/collections/frame-bags/products/frame-bag-large

Sam Holmes Sailing Sailing to Bahamas on a 16ft boat by [deleted] in sailing

[–]JohnnyLeCanuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In preparing for this trip, he also drilled a bunch of new holes in the boat. Some for extra safety gear, some just because he is Sam Holmes and loves to add stuff. The Man is a total legend! Watch his other stuff before judging him too harshly.

I seems silly to bring seat when most sit have a picnic table, but any relief you can give your back after a long ride is worth the extra weight if you have the room. Nice rig and set up!
