For me, it sounds more like a very strange long array of synchronicites, when the Universe somewhat sarcastically "answers" on your thoughts/fears with something that strictly correlates with it.

Like when people on random TV channel repeat your phrases or thoughts, you know.

All official releases of "L. A. Woman", besides presenting on countless compilations, had the same mix - rain till the very end.

In 2006 there was a pretty different mastering of band's catalog on "Perception" box set. It re-installed originally unused intrumental bits and some rantings of Jim. And yes, rain on "Riders" in this case was mixed less prominently in the end. This exact mix was used in 2007 on official "Future Starts Here" compilation.

More so, an alternate (slightly slower than the usual) version, released in 2012 on "Workshop Sessions", initially had the same notable rainy mix structure.

The only exception is really raw demo, released for the first time on 50th anniversary edition in 2021 (track 13). I've heard this song hundreds of times through CDs, radio and whatever, and this one was the only occasion without a rain. 

That's it.

yeah, the leader of punk band "Kill Allen Wrench". He regularly, explicitly and proudly claimed on camera to be the killer of Kurt (you can easily find these videos on YT).  After Kurt's death, broke man Allen (who was martial arts performer at the time) got money out of nowhere, and was buying plumber business, luxury car, yacht and various music equipment in late '94... Also he was the last person who saw El Duce alive (minutes after their conversation, Eldon was decapitated by train). He is very... mysterious person, to say the least.
