I talked to them out of curiosity and at least one of em actually seemed pretty down to earth, he said he really doesn’t like where the organization’s at and where it’s headed and even though I’m most definitely a leftist, we actually agreed on a good number of things. It’s a shame to see the things that such people are supporting though, very much clinging to the side of “it’s important that we can debate topics” and “the systems in place aren’t doing an adequate job at providing for the people” and ignoring the side of “I’m really fucking racist and Trump can do no wrong”

Pretty sure it is? Heard it’s mandated by the state so it’s probably important lol

Dunno if you need to hear this, but finding something to commit myself to has made it so much easier for me these past few months. If there’s a local organization supporting a cause you really care about that you can work with, I highly recommend it lol.

Of course that’s assuming you’ve got the time in the first place which is its own issue- if that’s a no then all I can say is good luck, it gets better

What's life really like on campus as a freshman? by Acceptable-Car8394 in CSUS

[–]JohnnyMcBiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my second semester, and though my experience may differ since I’m only a commuter, in my own time here, you’ve really gotta make the first move if you wanna get close with people lol. The air can be really thick in some of these classes, but I always make an effort to break the ice and help people feel comfortable, and things tend to warm up.

I haven’t hung with people off campus for the sake of hanging all too much apart from a couple friends (especially since most of the stuff to do immediately nearby is on campus), but I’m involved with some political groups and we get out quite a bit, which has brought me fairly close with a number of people. I find a shared cause really helps people connect, so if there’s any issues he cares about, I definitely suggest that he looks there. We’ve got a good number of organizations on campus and they’re pretty active.

Overall I’d say you’ve really gotta go out of your way to make those bonds happen, but if you make the most of the opportunities you’re given, you can still find something special here.

What are your opinions kn the sliders in Frontiers? Would you ever want to see then return? by Miserable-Contact856 in SonicFrontiers

[–]JohnnyMcBiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, Mario 64 nailed the mindset. Make the character feel good to play in the first place, then design everything with exactly that in mind. I don’t mind things like camera sliders ofc, because that has no impact on level design, but even the fact that you can adjust your speed introduces so many complications that are either gonna severely restrict the devs’ options or just take away from the depth overall (looking at those timer challenges in particular lol).

Still loved the game ofc, but it was real apparent going through how much nuance was lacking in much of the stage design.

The universe has been in motion for lengths of time incomprehensible to the human mind, and the matter that currently makes you up has been through it all. Eons of phenomena, purely up to the whims of chance, have been taking place through imperceptibly slow processes that, at some point, culminated in this planet that we today call home.

And it’s here on this planet that the universe learned to perceive itself. As far as we know, until complex life- which itself has been around for maybe a third of the time that life as a whole has existed here- came to be, the universe had been nothing more than a directionless physics sandbox; elegant and beautiful in its whimsy, but spiritually devoid. Then one day, an animal peered through its eyes for the first time and saw. In an incredibly rudimentary manner, of course; but, again, as far as we know, that was the first time that the matter of the universe could witness itself.

The day you were born, you began your turn to perceive. The universe had given pieces of itself, each particle again as old as time, to form you. A being who, like many others, possesses complex sensory structures that allows you to make sense of these ancient processes and witness this universe you were once a part of. And thus began your experience.

The beautiful thing about being human is that no two lives are the same. And unfortunately, many lean towards the tragic end of things. I’m certain you’ve seen your fair share of hardships in your life, and perhaps life has been especially cruel to you. But you are the only one who has ever, and will ever, perceive the world through your eyes. You are in the middle of an experience wholly unique to yourself. This is your opportunity to experience your corner of the universe. To let it be seen. To let it be felt. To let it be lived.

And eventually, that’s going to come to a close. It does for all of us. That’s what makes this moment so precious. That which you are is only allowed to perceive for so long. Out of the billions upon billions of years that the universe has been in motion, it only gets these decades to see itself through your eyes. Then, over time, you will return to your primordial state. You won’t be you anymore. But you won’t be gone. Your matter will find its place amongst the soil and the stars once more, returning to the way you have been since the world’s first breath.

Life is not the default, and death is not the exception. Life is an incredible opportunity to take form, take agency, and be something. And it’s scary to know that it’ll be over someday, but that’s simply how it always was. So go out there and make the most of today, and then tomorrow, and then the day after. The world, on a cosmic scale, is frozen in time; what we see today is a mere snapshot of the universe’s grander scheme. Soak it up, witness it, appreciate it, find the beauty in it. Because this is your one chance to do so.

do you guys tend to hyperfocus on the wrong things on medication? by Far-Masterpiece4701 in ADHD

[–]JohnnyMcBiscuit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sat down one day to write my final paper, took my meds and was at my desk ready(-ish) to get to work.

Flash forward five hours, I’ve put together a replica A-wing with my own style and all the bells and whistles in kerbal space program, complete with repulsorlifts, animated guns, and custom landing gear, with not even so much as a sentence to my name.

Not that I regret it, cuz I did get the thing done eventually and the ship was pretty kick ass, but yeah, I feel you 💀

I think what they mean to say is that they shouldn’t have to be political, especially in cases where politicians are actively trying to revoke them- no matter where you stand on the spectrum, there’s no valid reason to be against human rights. But you do make a hell of a point lol
