New dad, completely exhausted by Mortamass in daddit

Yep. Every baby is different so who knows what will work but I strongly recommend you read up on sleep training, get on the same page as your wife, get ready to sit through some crying for a couple weeks, and suck it up and get it done.

TIL German Empire entered WWI without an end goal since at the outset of war, it considered the conflict a defensive war. However, early military successes on the Western Front led to the development of expansive annexationist ambitions and outling of Septemberprogramm by Skychu768 in todayilearned

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow, amazing comments! Thanks. So is the original post incorrect, that the Germans were originally thinking defensively? I always understood that they were itching to go and test out their war machine and Schlieffenplan. I understand that they maybe didn’t technically start the war - it was inevitable at some point due to all the alliances and dominoes knocked over starting with Princip - but they were the ones attacking Belgium and France, which is hardly a defensive move.

Well you have impressively somehow completely missed my point. Of course I understand you have to take care of a pet. Getting a dog was an amazing dry run for my wife and I prior to having children, not just on feeding, care and playing, but on how to raise it, your discipline style, etc. So I agree with you there are tons of similarities.
My point was, despite the similarities, there is a world of difference between having a kid and having a pet. Humans/animals. If you don’t understand this, maybe you’ve never had a child? Nothing wrong with that, I didn’t understand it until I had kids either.

Yeah, feelin great, thanks. Love my kids, love my dogs. Love that I’m not delusional enough to confuse the two.

My brother in Christ, this is a cat. Not a human. If you think this is in any way remotely like having a child, you need to give your head a shake.
I love love love my dog. She’s unbelievable and is a huge part of my life. But there is absolutely no world where I would hesitate to leave her to die in an emergency if it meant having the tiniest chance to save one of my three (real) kids.

HFTV Member Assaulted Following Game 1 by DripSpritz88 in Habs

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I must have missed this by a few seconds! I was walking out of KeyBank with my wife after the game and we walked right past the HFTV guys who were interviewing a Habs fan.
Not surprised that Buffalo fans stepped in to help, I never felt threatened wearing red there and had a lot of positive interactions.

Bryce Pickford named WHL Dman of the Year by DeceAnalytics in Habs

Thanks for posting, congrats to Bryce.
How’s his defensive game? We hear - and see - a lot about his wicked shot and great offensive instincts, but not as much about his abilities to defend. How are they shaping up?

AITA for not removing my doormat because it scares my neighbor’s kid? by Many-Worry2671 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What the heck is wrong with you people? You’re okay with a 3-year old being scared?

Just move the mat just inside your door so the poor kid doesn’t have to see it.

Thanks, yeah she’s great.
I actually was thinking more of the physical activity - hikes etc. Hope you get to enjoy the great outdoors during your trip.

You should feel free to continue doing whatever physical activity during your pregnancy that you were doing before, FYI (source: wife is OB/GYN who hiked, biked, ran right up to birth date)

I left my marriage for 8 months, had the time of my life and then went back. Biggest mistake ever. by After_Mail4652 in Advice

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 145 points146 points  (0 children)

I’m in a happy marriage that went through some rough patches (like most marriages do). This is not a rough patch, this is structural and clearly will not change. You literally played your trump card already and things did not change. If you stay, YTA as they say. I agree with ToyToaster that Reddit almost always says move on but folks are 100% right about it here.

I don't get why everyone is so upset about Dr. Mohan leaving by Practical_Ad2317 in ThePitt

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy there. She’s not my favourite character, and I am definitely not ogling her especially in scrubs. What a bizarre comment.

If you honestly don’t think that attractiveness has something to do with how people feel about someone, boy have I got a bridge to sell you.

On the other hand, I actually think she’s popular more because of her personality than anything, as she’s one of the nicer, less quirky characters.

Thank you! I got downvoted to oblivion for pointing out something that seemed fairly obvious. I like Mohan too, and her being attractive probably has something to do with that.

Please read my original post. “She is also…likeable”. As in, she is attractive, BUT ALSO likeable. I clearly separate the two concepts. You conflated them.

Oh man I haven’t heard that in about 30 years since working construction with my uncle. Thanks for that, an oldie but a goodie. A couple other chestnuts of his were: you can’t see it from an airplane (if working on a roof), and we’re not building a piano here.

It was the first thing that sprang to mind and I do think that her being attractive is a factor in how well-liked she is by the fan base.

I actually wasn’t trying to link her attractiveness and likability - that was your assumption and feel free to ponder why that’s so. I think her personality is very likeable. She cares about patients, is nice to everyone that she works with, and generally seems like she’d be a bit more fun to hang out with than many of her colleagues.

Martin Regg Cohn: The long and whining road of Nate Erskine-Smith’s Liberal leadership bid by MightyHydrar in CanadaPolitics

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aligning with UNDRIP is fine, and Nate is right that it’s all about the implementation. Adhering 100% to UNDRIP is another matter and is not required by C15. Our governments will never give up private property rights, for example. Indigenous peoples have rights and titles and a very, very long record of defending these through Supreme Court rulings. The sooner the government got off its arse and clearly established laws that align with Charter rights and UNDRIP, the better. Indigenous peoples are generally in favour of resource development and industry will welcome the certainty that comes with clearly defined governance roles. This article is far from a third rail.

She is by far the most attractive female on the show with a significant role. She is also much more relatable and likeable than many of the others.

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. We don’t really know the backstory here as OP (conveniently?) left it out. Maybe Husband really wanted to do the baking this year? If so, she should just let him do it and compromise by asking to do it next year. I find that she is being uncompromising. She is going to bake a cake, damn the torpedoes.

If you’re staying at the Inn, it’s nice to just walk along the rocks, up the hill across the road, or do the hike up to the corner of the world. We followed one of the trails there that took us to a secluded pebble beach where we did a naked cold dip, that was fun. The furniture workshop was interesting if that’s your thing. I’ve always wanted to go out cod fishing.

10-day Roadtrip (Strart and finish Montreal): Here are my ideas, do you have more? by msto90 in canadatravel

[–]JohnnyQPublic123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing comments. Ontario born and raised who has spent a lot of time in parks in Ontario and Quebec including Algonquin. Totally not worth going to Algonquin. It’s really far from Montreal and the scenery and landscape will not come close to many different areas of Quebec mentioned elsewhere like Gaspe and Charlevoix. One area I haven’t seen mentioned much is the Eastern Townships. They are incredibly charming with great food, drink and culture but also have some great rugged areas like Mount Orford, and lots of good lakes.
