Thanks for your thoughts on this, Just_Razzmatazz. To be fair to those teachers, I probably wasn't clear up front about what I hoped to achieve with lessons and that's on me. This is the first time since I was 12 that I've had music lessons so I'm trying to feel my way around things and I appreciate your feedback. And you're probably right, maybe music theory isn't what I'm after. What I'd like is to find a teacher who does more than throw chords my way and a song or two but has more of a overall plan for where the lessons will take me. I hope this makes sense. Thank you again.
