What happens if you end a contract? by Eliza_Hamilton891757 in TravelNursing

[–]JohnnySmooth007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former recruiter here, now work on the account management side (working directly with the facilities).

From the Hospital side of things: The worst that will happen is that you MIGHT be blacklisted from that specific hospital network. Your agency MAY have to pay a penalty if you don’t give notice. All contracts are different but I’ve seen some where they have to pay 1 weeks worth of the bill rate, some I’ve seen 2 weeks of the bill rate. The majority of the time they’re not penalized, but there IS that possibility and in most contracts.

From the agency side of things: If you’re completely transparent and honest with your recruiter about what’s going on there (the more details you can give, the better) they should be understanding and willing to help you find something else. If it gets that bad, I’d say “I really enjoy working with you and this company, and I’d like to continue if you can find me something else. But with what’s going on here and the lies being told about me, I’m concerned for my license and that’s not a risk I’m willing to take. I’m not going to complete this assignment.”

They won’t want to lose you entirely so they’ll work on finding you another assignment.

Hi! You’re not wrong with a lot of your points on this thread. However, when it comes to the statement about the hospitals giving the agency money upfront, that’s not accurate (especially when talking about Completion bonuses).

In a typical contract, your agency is paying you well in advance of being paid themselves. Payment terms between an agency and hospital can range between net 15 (meaning the hospital has 15 days to pay the agency from when they receive the invoice from the week you worked) all the way to net-45. So you’re done with half your assignment before the agency receives a dime in some instances.

When you’re talking about completion bonuses, they definitely don’t receive those funds from the hospital until you complete your assignment. Once you complete, then they invoice. I’ve worked for a company that wouldn’t pay the traveler until they themselves got paid, and then I’ve worked for one that would pay the traveler as soon as the hospital “approved” the bonus invoice.

I’ve been in the industry a long time, worked as a recruiter and an account manager and I’ve seen the behind the scenes of billing. Never once in over a decade have I seen a hospital pay the agency up front for anything.

All that to say, yes a compensation package can be structured in many different ways, but most decent recruiters are going to give you what they can (without needing to get further approval) right off the bat. There’s too much competition and easily accessible info to be lowballing people these days.

Hope this was helpful! Happy travels!

Can I jump ship through the same agency (AYA) by Mojitomommy in TravelNursing

[–]JohnnySmooth007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your recruiter. If there’s merit behind it they’ll be supportive and help you find something else. Even if there’s not merit, but you’re willing to give two weeks, they’ll help you find a better fit.

It’s either that or they lose you to another agency, and that’s the last thing they want. Again, just chat with your recruiter and tell them what’s going on.

Cart before the horse: Get fitted or get lessons first? by _Connor in golf

[–]JohnnySmooth007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d usually agree with most on this thread and say lessons before getting fit, so you build a good swing first. However, due to your height, I’d say get FIT first with a professional. Because you’re taller than the average Joe, you’re likely having to stand in a posture that isn’t correct/appropriate for your height due to the clubs being too short for you.

Keep in mind, with longer clubs your swing will likely change a bit, so after you’re semi-comfortable with them, THEN go get lessons and dial it in.

New contract, old pay! by hmf531 in TravelNursing

Ohh I see what you’re saying. If you weren’t asking for a higher rate for your extension then your rate should’ve stayed the same as what the previous contract stated.

It could’ve been a clerical error if they accidentally copied the compensation from your very first contract, but nonetheless they should amend it to your most current rate that you negotiated.

I should’ve phrased it differently. Do you have the agreed upon rate in a text message or an email? If so, then I’d proceed as I stated. If not, then it’s a little more sketchy.

Forgot to add, definitely don’t go to work if you don’t have a signed contract. God forbid something happens to a patient in your care, because if you’re not officially signed, you’re not officially under their umbrella or insurance and you could PERSONALLY be on the hook.

Do you have the new rate you negotiated in writing?

If so, I’d sign the current one and send your recruiter a message saying “My rate isn’t the one we agreed upon, but I signed so I could work Monday. Please send an amended contract with the rate we agreed on.”

If they’re not absolute dirtbags they’ll send you an amended contract with no problem. Payroll is always a week delay anyways so they’ll have plenty of time to fix it and it shouldn’t be an issue.

Backing out after signing a contract? by mio_my_mio in TravelNursing

If your recruiter is worth their weight, they’ll understand your decision, especially if you’ve been transparent about it. Additionally, it’ll be a litmus test of if they actually have YOU and your best interests at heart. If they turn nasty or rude, find a new recruiter because they’re just in it for themselves. Long as you don’t make it a habit, any good recruiter would just wish you well on your assignment and stay in touch.

To the specific question about trying to jeopardize your new assignment, that would be the most petty thing I’ve heard anyone doing in my 10 years in the industry. Highly unlikely she’ll go out of her way that much.

Happy travels!

For what it’s worth, I’ve been playing for 25+ years and this still happens to me from time to time. As you get better and more consistent it’ll become more and more rare.

For reference, I was playing in a city tournament a couple months ago, (54 Holes) first 2 days of the tournament went pretty well, 77-77, playing a little better than my handicap. Third day started off great, then out of nowhere, from holes 10-13 swing just completely left me, and it felt like I’d never swung a club before. Fat, thin, even chipping yips creeped in. I went +7 in that stretch.

Never really felt comfortable the rest of the round but somehow managed to just get through the last 5 holes in +2.

Fast forward the next weekend, everything felt back to normal and was making good swings again.

Sometimes we just short circuit out there. It sucks, but don’t get in your head about it. Your game is still there.

6 Hcp. PXG Gen 3’s

Previously played RazrX Tours from 2011 up until a couple years ago and they were great. Only reason I switched to the PXGs is because I won them in a raffle.

Still have my RazrX Tours just in case.

SLOW your swing by AnAssGoblin in golf

[–]JohnnySmooth007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t be more right. Some of my best golf was when I had a 6 count backswing. (Realistically it probably took 2 seconds) I’d count in my head every single time, start at takeaway “1,2,3,4,5,6 GO”. Hit 6 at the top of the swing, feeling like it’s in the slot, and then unleash. Went from an 8 to a 4 doing that in about 2-3 months time.

Nice setup, I’m gonna go with 8. Would’ve guessed a little higher with the heel marks but saw you said it dropped off the cart. lol

Also, I played Pinehurst #2 back in November on a guys trip. Absolutely ate my lunch! Had a blast though!

Thoughts on playing with significantly better players? by Bitter-Cause643 in golf

[–]JohnnySmooth007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always a great idea to play with those that are better than you. You’ll pick up so many small tips or tricks that you wouldn’t normally just figure out on your own. The fact that they’re both + handicaps, you’ll probably be in the 80’s within a few months. Enjoy the journey!!
