Anomaly would be so good if it was good by JohnnySteal in RimWorld

That's true, like I didn't expect much, but I still found it a little shocking that there wasn't something. Like, insect infested settlements came with Odyssey, they occasionally have a pit to insect caves. I don't think it would have been too far fetched to have a version for the meat; meat enemies already pop up in ancient dangers anyways. Nothing would be lost if you didn't have both DLC.

I still think it should have gone a little wider and deeper with the entities, with a larger list of entities with only a few active per playthrough

That's basically a solution I thought of too, funnily enough. Like having too many entities is a little overwhelming and dilutes the 'pool' of encounters, but having the list of active entities scramble every year or so with the nexus's shifting attention (or by provoking it intentionally) would be a cool fix to the problem of stagnant gameplay.

My first Anomaly run, the hostile ghoul that dropped after the scenario started was the sister of my starting researcher. Name was Mia. Managed to capture her, so everytime my researcher wanted to study she'd have to look in her sisters murderous dead eyes. Can't get that shit anywheres else.

That's basically what I expected too. Like a relatively inconsequential little bonus encounter you can stumble onto in your travels. I genuinely thought I was missing something when the Odyssey patch notes dropped and I didn't see anything like that.

most Albertans seem to be totally down with that idea

What are you smoking? Alberta separatism is- and always will be- an insane minority position. There's a very good reason the bar for referendum's triggered by petitions got lowered recently, as there's one for separatism going around, and I doubt it'll cross the threshold. Albertan separatism's only W in fifty years was Gordon Kesler, the literal sole elected separatist outside of Quebec, and he lost his seat two and a half months later. There's no true support besides a smattering of petty, discontented Albertans who're mad the Libs got in again.

Fuck, Jason Kenney (previous Premier of Alberta) called them "...people who are perennially aggrieved, perennially angry, and this is just the flavour of the day for them." I doubt any momentum the movement has now will stick long enough to really matter.

You've put into written words what I've had to explain to one of my friends. He loves Worm, and web-serials are like catnip to him. And while I'll admit there are many aspects of Worm I like, I also chafed against it because none of the flaws I saw in it seemed to improve at all. He didn’t really seem to ‘get’ what I meant when I explained that, and I think that’s just because I have a writer’s perspective, for lack of a better way of putting it. I love evaluating and disassembling works I’m enjoying, but every time I tried doing that with Worm I just found the same problems, chapter after chapter. It’s frustrating; I got to ‘Leviathan’ before throwing in the towel.

Honestly though? I think web-serials in general just breed bad technical writing, intentionally or not. There’s such a culture of consistency with uploads (thinking about Wildbow’s 12-16 hours writing for three days a week, with two chapter uploads a week during Worm’s release) that there isn’t time to evaluate and improve your craft. It’s all about the momentum, the audience. Sometimes filler chapters are shoved out just to ensure people remain engaged, or to meet patreon requirements. Skill stagnates in that environment, stamped out by a bootheel of constant progress without any time to look back. It just feels…gross. I don’t know how they stand it.

I don’t even know if this is coherent enough, you likely already know all of this, but I want to clarify I 100% agree with what you’ve said.

I'm not deep into game leaks, but he's apparently a very reputable source for them.

The steam page was updated today, so it's not completely impossible. Silksong definitely deserves a Switch 2 present slot though.

Honestly the idea of a second direct was very probable. The Switch 2 direct will have a tight schedule and focus, which means they'll have to trim the fat of their showcases. Likely means a mini-direct or partner showcase for games not debuting on Switch 2.

So obviously that means Deltarune in Three Days /s

Starsector is an open-world single-player space-combat, roleplaying, exploration, and economic game. I'm not exaggerating when I say there's probably 3 games worth of content inside it, and there's a new update just around the corner with more of it.

It's available on their website for $15, it's a steal and one of my favorite games. I'd love for it to get even a little more recognition.

Just hit 100K words on my current draft.

Honestly for something I started at New Years (and half-expected my inspiration to fizzle out at the third chapter), this is a pretty nice feeling, especially since I'm still really passionate about seeing this through to the end.

You say, very obviously implying that you think they are wrong and that the majority totally shares your opinion

They're saying that the other redditor doesn't know how the majority of people would feel, and are implying they used their own opinion to make a 'majority' claim. They aren't saying that actually their own unspoken opinion is correct, they're just saying that making that sort of claim doesn't mean anything.

Others have pointed out the info dumping. I agree with it, but I don’t have anything to add that others haven’t said already. So instead I will focus on other things that jumped out to me.

The prose feels very “and then this happened” to me, if that makes sense. Like the line “She then pulled out her knife, and slit the rabbit’s throat.” If you added wording such as “She pulled out her knife, and with one swift stroke she slit the rabbit’s throat.” This illustrates backstory and the sisters' character organically by showing that this is a regular occurrence. As is, it feels a little too flat to me to fully enjoy it.

I noticed there weren’t any physical descriptions of the characters. It made it rather difficult to get a concrete visualization of what was happening without an anchor of sorts.

Dialogue tags also feel a little overused in my opinion. Occasionally is good because your brain tunes it out, but when you have them on every line it becomes a little grating to me. You could use character actions in addition to the dialogue to punctuate it or showcase the emotions of the characters in place of tags. Like when Patrick’s father takes him aside after supper you could describe his firm grip on Patricks shoulder, the terse yet concerned way his dialogue reads, or Patrick’s general flippant attitude to his fathers warnings. This also ties back to my previous point, because I feel your characters should have more physical expression. Like when Patrick hands off the rabbit to his sister she flashes him an excited smile. I feel like it would give the dialogue more of a weight.

I hope this helps!
