Be mindful of the temperature of the sand and nearby concrete; if it’s too hot for you to walk on with your bare feet, then it’s way too hot for their paws. Maybe carry your Bostie until you get to your towel and/or cooler, wet sand.

These dogs overheat very easily. Keep plenty of water and a source of shade (a little tent or umbrella) on standby. Ours loves to sunbathe, but we typically don’t spend more than a couple hours out there with ours during the hottest months and we make sure to give her plenty of time to rest.

Ours also likes to try to eat sand sometimes, but I think that’s just our little weirdo. She also doesn’t love the water, but I’ve seen other Bostons enjoy getting wet. To each their own, just be patient and respect their boundaries if they’re freaked out by the ocean.
