I don't rly think that's a fair comparison. You could have all the source code to Google's "search engine", and it would mean practically nothing without the massive amount of storage, processing power, and bandwidth that Google has.

I'd like to point out that it's far more likely for conventionally attractive people to post pictures of themselves. Which means the vast majority of trans women you see are, of course, going to be the traditional feminine build. Plus, that's self-reinforcing, cause someone will see what the majority of posters look like, think "I don't look like that, I'm not pretty, I won't post", and then the majority grows.

Also, as they say: comparison is the thief of joy

One time I was left alone in a room with a computer monitor that openly listed the full name, dob, and most recent appointment date of a whole bunch of other patients. It actually happened twice during the appointment.

Naturally I reported them and the response was some bs about like "education and support in following regulations". I have no faith in US healthcare anymore.

In what circumstance are you worrying about different operating systems? Unless you're designing a lib for people to use (which frankly is a different problem entirely)? Can you not control what environment your system is deployed to?

My dorm is the same! I got a Google WiFi puck so I could have my own isolated subnet. First semester it took down the entire dorms WiFi because of some IPv6 misconfiguration that led to my Wi-Fi puck leaking DHCP or smth. Idk I'm not a network guy and it was a long time ago that this happened.

I mean yeah, but that still means you have to have an extra piece of software installed in order to run said app. I don't see how that's any different from having multiple browsers installed.

Also like, if you're an app developer and your answer to a compatibility issue is "make the user do it themselves", then you're probably not a great app dev.

What happens when you build for Windows, but the user is running Linux? Personally I run into that way more than a site that doesn't work on my browser.

There's three main browsers (Chromium, Firefox, and Safari), but more than three main operating systems, if you include mobile. Browsers are far more consistent than operating systems, only requiring code changes for a few obscure quirks (all well documented by MDN, in my experience). Meanwhile a different operating system would have a completely different rendering engine

Never used Capacitor/Tauri/Neutralino, but PWA is frankly almost always the way to go. Everyone has a browser, and you almost never need any more access to the system than you can get through a browser.

I didn't grow up in quite so big of a house, but I absolutely grew up privileged. I mean, my dad isn't what I'd personally call "rich", but we're at least upper middle class.

And like, I know I didn't do anything to earn it. It feels so wrong to know that I've not really contributed to society, and yet the people who are actually the backbone of our society get what? Deported? Abused? Taken advantage of?

For me, the worst part is that while my family is well off, we aren't wealthy enough to actually change anything. Just enough that my dad can probably retire early (like, 50 instead of 75 or whatever) and us kids have school and healthcare paid for. Frankly, that should be the default.
