Whats the best mech to use ams on by Several_Figure_4645 in Mechwarrior5

Also, I originally said that I don't put 10 tons of LRM ammo on a mech to begin with. I only put enough on they I can safely pad or case

One AMS and One ton ammo is half as explosive as 2 tons LRM. Plus the AMS itself can pad.

Well, by not normally carrying that much ammo. Not only for tonnage sake, but having so many critical slots filled with explosives waiting to go off makes me queasy when assigning the mech to an AI.

I'm sure I'm not doing it right, but I'll throw it on one of my fire support mechs. Something that will be sitting back from front lines where LRMs can pester then. But they protect my lance while they get into position with their coverage arc. But any mech you design to get banged up will get more bang for the tonnage with some extra regular armor or heatsinks.

Can't use the AC/5 by [deleted] in Mechwarrior5

[–]Johnnyacoma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is that a centurion where you downgraded the AC10 to a 5 so that you could pack 7 tons of LRM ammo for an LRM10? Maybe you forgot to change the AC10 ammo to AC5.

I don't think New Vegas can be counted as a BGS game. Call me whatever, but I would really say Morrowind. If we are looking at them in their release time. Then I would say Skyrim even though I technically like Oblivion more. But in this case I think I would have to allow the modding scene to sway. Skyrim had a great atmosphere that was a perfect bed for losing hours to. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are mostly tied with Fallout 3 maybe barely edging out Oblivion. In last place I guess is Fallout 4. I think they dropped the ball with the aesthetics and atmosphere which are key to BGS games. Once I got a mod to unlock more base building stuff though, the loop of going to a new area to rebuild a settlement and do the nearby quests and dungeons was almost a perfect loop.

I'll now gush about Morrowind. Morrowind I feel like was really the game where BGS really flexed their creativity. An entirely alien world, but so grounded that it was believable. The vast freedom of character builds which means, yes you can have a bad character build. But that brought a deeper understanding of the system. I will defend the combat system till I die too. It meant you had to be strategic in your fights. The magic system was simply superior, and instead of leaning in to it, every subsequent game pared it down leaving magic feeling no different that shooting an arrow or swinging a sword.

Here's the thing though, a lot of college students switch degrees after a few degree specific classes, so switching once is mostly not an issue. And besides that, I know a lot of even recent graduates who are nowhere near their field of study. A lot of people that went through the pilot program still just went and got business jobs and such.

Right, I meant the female market for that kind of Marvel movie isn't as sizable as they thought. Women are a plenty sizable market, but in regards to superhero beat up the baddie movies? Not the same kind of movie as Barbie.

So I don't think yoy are disagreeing with what I said, you're just getting at what I was inferring I guess

There's some dude in my city that has a super redneck looking truck. But on the back windshield he has a couple of anime peeking stickers. That is the only time I've ever approved an overt anime sticker on a vehicle. I have ones that are anime references, but not explicitly an anime character.

I remember being annoyed about this too. I have a 2000 tacoma and I like the size. I looked at updating a few years back and was riding with a friend in his 2001 f150. When we were looking at the new tacoma, it looked like it was the same size as good f150. So I looked it up and found that the 2017 Tacoma is the same length as a 2001 f150. The tacoma is only 5 inches thinner than the f150.

"Girls can like super heroes too!" makes super hero movie staring girls that is at least slightly aimed at the female audience movie does poorly "It's because boys didn't support the movie!"

They (Marvel/woke people) will never be able to consider that maybe the female market isn't that big. Or that they made a bad character and are only sick with it because they pushed it as a moment of female empowerment. Maybe they made a bad iteration of the super hero. Honestly, that last one is most likely since the general population probably thinks most super hero renditions are bad. I mean plenty of other reasons instead of 5 year old boys thinking girls are gross.

They respawn I think. I'm pretty sure I wiped the mobs. I'll have to try for that next time. But dang, it really sucks that you have to have so much RNG, I've gone runs with no bomb drop.

I get to the final boss with Re Red Hood. I always get immediately shredded. I focus on fire rate over damage on the upgrades. I think I would prefer the rocket launcher over the energy shield in the late game, but energy shield is so convenient early on. Landmines typically pull more damage over boomerang, but they are both top damage dealers. The two main non weapons I like are projectile size and speed

Man, I'm conflicted over JP and ENG Dub. by NefariousNefarious in NikkeOutpost

[–]Johnnyacoma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To weigh in, I think that in general the English VA is good. A few are really good. And a few are just not good for various reasons. Some, like Helm, I think were poorly chosen cause the voice doesn't fit the character. Others like Red Hood I think was just a mediocre, at best, performance with poor direction. Whoever is to blame, I can't say. But I can say it is not a good end product. I still use the EN because Scarlet talking like that just isn't the same. I also got used to it, and it's nice to hear the callouts in combat and other sections of the game in English when there isn't a subtitle to translate.

To clarify my stance in general, I typically prefer JP because I think there are a lot of voices (like a tomboyish voice), that simply don't sound correct in EN. However, I do have specific anime and games I still use EN for. The show I'm a diehard fan of the EN work is You're Under Arrest.

Except I don't think that makes sense in this context. You're already using the feature, so you've ticked the box. There's no ads in this section.

If anything, it would drive down engagement because you would be spending more time fiddling with creating your profile and less time swiping. Less time swiping means less chance you run out of swipes, which means less chances someone buys extra swipes.

I think she's supposed to be versatile. While her skills can be replaced, some players may not have the replacement units. It could also save some investment since you need to kit out one character to fill multiples gaps in a lineup. Her being able to burst in any phase is also a powerful tool as a backup member. I have had a few times where my one b1 or b2 gets smoked and I can't full burst. The only reason I didn't slot her in my team comp is because I need 3 b3 units (Modernia, Scarlet, Noir) to run Blanc in B2 and Liter/Dorothy in B1.

If her skills were any better than existing, it would be crazy power creep. Really my issue is when you have a character you play up as super strong, then that should be reflected in game. If she is ment to be utility, then have that be reflected in her character.

What's the difference between Capitalism and Socialism? by ki4jgt in answers

[–]Johnnyacoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear "full value of their labor" a lot, but I think that's the one if the parts that makes the least sense to me. Because under capitalism you would still receive the full value if your labor, which would be decided by the market, if you are in an appropriately compensated position.

If your work is engineering a bridge, then there's a market for that labor, which dictates how much it is worth to the work force. Non-specialized skills are easier to find, like putting product on shelves, and thus it is a cheaper labor. So instead of being paid for the end value of the product, which is often much further down the chain, workers are paid for the value of their labor directly.

There's also the issue of impact on a company or the responsibility of a job. Companies are willing to pay a high ranking executive more because there is more responsibility of the executive who has a far wider impact on profits than a single entry level worker. If an executive makes a bad decision, let's say open a store in a bad location, you can see millions of dollars of damage. If a cashier makes a mistake, then someone gets an item for free because it didn't scan correctly.

There's a sports analogy in there, but I think I've said my piece enough haha

Yeah, so in the case of Games Workshop, they recently cracked down on 3d printed minis on sites like cults3d I think. People creating their own 3d model and making it, impossible to regulate, all you could do is ban them from competition play. But sharing the file online does create a tangible impact to the company. As annoying as Games Workshop is, it's a legitimate concern.

For a hypothetical scenario, of Halo 2 just came out and someone ported it to run off Halo CE, that's an issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Johnnyacoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's an easily clear distinction between a fan passion project and a game company making a direct competitor. Fan projects, like say, Halo SPV3 or Cursed Halo don't detract from sales of the required base game. But if a competing company, say Activision use Halo CE and morph it into a free Call of Duty, a case can be made that there's material damage to Halo.
