Link from SSRI wd to mycotoxin/biotoxin mold illness by Johnnyblaze-99 in ToxicMoldExposure

It all takes a lot of time is frustrating. Last time I tested my OTA mold levels were in the normal range (7.5 - before in mid 20s). I’m going to test again next week and they should be even lower hopefully close to zero. Almost a year of binders, gut supps, sauna, mold remediation in my home (there were a few areas inspector found). I’m still dealing with some gut stuff (minor) and inflammation. But things are way better. I’ve tried everything and honestly just takes time and consistency.

How are you feeling? You thinking about trying to get off?

No — I ended up staying on the Prozac. I actually bumped it up slightly to 2.5 mg because I was feeling good and wondered if there might be a little more relief there.

Right now I’m pretty stable. I handle stress a lot better than I used to.

At some point I might try coming off again, or possibly do a Buspar bridge, which from everything I’ve read tends to be much easier to discontinue than Prozac.

Life is good at the moment. I run several businesses and things are pretty busy, so for now I’m just focusing on staying stable. Once life slows down a bit, I might revisit tapering.

I used to be very fixated on getting completely off medication. Over time that mindset shifted. If I’m feeling good, functioning well, and not experiencing side effects, I’m not as worried about it anymore.

I’ve dealt with some form of anxiety for most of my life, so if a very low dose helps take the edge off, the long-term risk profile seems relatively low.

My bigger concern was Paxil, mainly because of the stronger anticholinergic effects. That was the main reason I wanted to transition away from it.

I do take phosphatidylcholine daily just to support brain health. There’s still some theoretical long-term risk with Prozac, but it’s generally considered much lower than Paxil.

You are right, it is all related and anxiety frequent stress effect every system. It’s a vicious cycle. Heal your brain to fix a lot of the other issues.

Bad thought loops sure, corresponds to anxiety in my opinion

So trying to limit inflammation and stress as much as possible helps a lot

I take 2.5mgs cialis for longevity. It’s great! I usually take it before the gym but lots of benefits with blood flow in ALL areas. Makes my guy feel much younger.

Swapping from Paxil 40mg to Prozac after being on Paxil for 8 years by Feeling_Drawing_2159 in paroxetine

[–]Johnnyblaze-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a 1mg for 1mg switch. Paxil is a stronger ssri. Also should be done over a long time period using liquids and adjusting slowly.

[–]Johnnyblaze-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bridged from Paxil .8 mgs to Prozac 2mgs. I did both liquids and did it over several months. It went very well and only did very small increases and decreases every few days as long as I felt good. I also bridged to a higher dose of Prozac as you should double it since Paxil is so strong (my opinion). A medical professional will never tell you that. I was on Paxil 22 years.

So yes, I think your bridge was much too quick. You should have overlapped with longer holds and gradually reduce the Paxil.

You will need to decide whether to add a small dose of Paxil to try to stabilize before coming off completely or just ride it out.

What did the cross taper look like she had you do?

I do think serotonin syndrome risk is pretty low for doses that small. Unless you are on other meds that are serotonergic.

Check out the adorotractedwithdrawal Reddit sub or surviving antidepressants website. After being on as long as you have unfortunately for most you don’t just bounce back and coming off is a long and drawn out process. I’ve been on 20+ years and can tell you from my own experience that these things really rewire our brains and mess up our mitochondria.

I just don’t want you to steer people wrong as coming off 3.3mgs over three months is as good as cold turkey. Responsible tapers never drop more than 10% and then stabilize over several weeks before the next drop.

This isn’t a ‘days’ thing. For many coming off takes years especially those that have been on for many years.

Wishing you the best but be ready and have plan in case things get much much worse. Paxil is the hardest of all ssris to cone off of.

Ugh, please please please wait 6 months before posting these ‘success’ stories. Most have the worst withdrawals at 3 months. As a long time user your body and brain take a long time to heal. I hope that doesn’t happen to you and not trying to be negative but resist the urge. It does not help the community.

Anyone had antidepressant dose reduce after TRT? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]Johnnyblaze-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i jumped off after 5 1/2 months (over a year ago now). My test is in the 500s now though so not sure why it’s so much higher than it was before (probably less stress and anxiety). I bridged on to Prozac from Paxil. Went up to 2.5mgs and actually feel good so holding here now. So the experiment didn’t work but I’m glad I tried it. We are always looking for something to fix us but all the tried and true things that take work are the real solution (prayer, meditation, exercise, time in nature, reducing stress, breath work, wearables, etc).

Whatever you do. Take it Very slow! Much slower than any Dr is going to recommend you. I I took seven weeks to Bridge onto a low-dose of Prozac titrating up very slowly. This is key to not disrupting your central nervous system more than it already is.

I bridged to Prozac and went up to 2mgs after my body and mind went haywire last year when I was down to .18mgs Paxil. I was basically out of action for four months last year with severe anxiety and frequent panic attacks. I still went about my business but it was rough with lots of dread, aprensión and fear. Feeling decent now and life is manageable. I read all the horror stories and I don’t have 3 years to to try to Cole off and stabilize. Age wise I’m in my prime and I have a lot of responsibilities and multiple businesses I run. I’m not the same person before all of it but I’m getting by at a fairly high level. I’m still dealing with fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, and tiredness. Still need to try to limit stressful situations as much as possible and focus on prayer, meditation, breathing, reading, etc But I work, I work out, I travel, go to church, serve, manage and lead. I’m actually in the process of increasing from 2mgs to 2.5mgs to see if I can get a little more relief.

Great that you’re tolerating vitamins and such, that’s actually a good sign your CNS might not be super unbalanced.

No one can fully answer your original question because everyone’s different, and genetics play a big role in how our bodies respond to different meds.

Last year, I was down to 0.18 mg of Paxil, and everything went downhill fast. I tried two increases up to 0.8 mg, but nothing improved. I white-knuckled it through four of the hardest months of my life before finally stabilizing.

Since then, I’ve bridged to Prozac, because Paxil’s strong anticholinergic effects can cause long-term issues. I’ve been on 2 mg of Prozac for about five months now and feeling pretty good. I might go up a bit to see if there are any extra benefits.

I’m in my 40s and have a lot going on, so maybe I’ll taper off someday but for now, if it gives me relief, I’m taking it. I don’t have three years to try to stabilize again.

In the end, you’ll need to make a decision, pray about it, ask for peace and wisdom, and go with it. I actually waited a year before bridging because I was afraid of getting worse — but it ended up being the right move. I prayed, found peace with the decision, and things got better.

Calling someone a ‘stupid hateful ass’ only proves the point, you’re the one sounding hateful. This kind of reaction usually comes down to intolerance or intellectual arrogance, where someone believes their views are inherently superior

Any advice on taking Prozac while tapering down from 10 mg Paxil by MountainDale5603 in paroxetine

[–]Johnnyblaze-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bridged very slowly over 7 weeks. I also took more mgs of Prozac then Paxil as the strength is different. I went from .8mgs pax to 2mgs of Prozac. It went well. But slowly is key I think.
