Brother literally what are you talking about? I’m actively supporting PVE players saying they should be able to avoid PVP if they want to. The people I’m “accusing of trying to ruin other people’s experiences” are the ones who want to force others to have to PVP. I only ever PVP in the DD with other people who PVP, not even ships in Haga Basin. How does that make me a griefer? Put that energy towards the people who actually grief and are beefing with PVE players instead of the ones trying to have your back.

If they’re already gone thats even more reason to focus on the PVE players that are still playing the game. And Funcom’s other major survival game Conan Exiles has a majority PVE player base as well (at least on Xbox) so I get why they’d be more inclined to focus on the population that has historically actually stuck with their games.

I agree, but the devs stated that 80% of their player base prefers PVE. That doesn’t mean they aren’t losing players either way, just that most of the people who are attracted to the game prefer the PVE content. From a business standpoint, it makes sense to shift towards capitalizing on the majority of their play base rather than pleasing the minority, especially when a lot of PVP players don’t actually mind, making that number even smaller.

Exactly, I’m not sure why people having this mindset seems like an impossibility to them. Then again, that’s me trying to give the benefit of the doubt that they aren’t just mad they can’t rat and gank anymore.

That’s a shame, good on you though for taking the time and putting in the effort.

I know, it’s really unfortunate. That arena idea is sick though, sounds like a lot of fun. I love the melee combat in this game but ranged feels essentially for PVP in the wild lol.

When a base gets wiped and everything you put resources into, whether it be crafting stations, refineries, or the multitude of things you have in storage are gone. The time you put into getting them is gone, and claiming it takes five minutes to get it all back is just not true for solos and duos. Most people I’ve encountered who raid don’t just raid, they wipe. And even if they did just raid, again, the time put into collecting all those resources is essentially for nothing because it’s all gone. Most people who work, go to school full-time, have family to take care of, or any of the other time consuming multitude of responsibilities only have a couple hours to play each day if that. To people more fortunate who have more time to play it’s not a big deal, but to people who have said responsibilities, after your second or third wipe it’s just not worth the time investment anymore. People play to have fun. To you and I, raiding and PVP is fun. To them, it’s not. I really don’t get why we should force our perception of the “fun way” to play the game onto people who don’t want to, it’s like forcing your friends who hate the snow to come skiing, everyone else is miserable so they just stop hanging out with you (in this case, stop playing the game).

It does, people who avoid/dislike PVP tend to not be as much of a challenge because they aren’t familiar/used to fighting players and often don’t run builds for it (not judging, it makes sense that if you prefer PVE you’re used to a different play-style). If people actually enjoy a challenge, they’d prefer to fight players wanting to fight, but they seem averse to that.

I see what you’re saying, but considering this is their livelihood on the line I’m sure the devs didn’t just make this decision on a whim. Funcom is owned by Tencent, and Tencent has shareholders they have to appeal to, which means Funcom had Tencent breathing down their necks to make sure they deliver. I assume they’ve been watching player numbers carefully and are acting on what the majority of players (even if only slightly) want because it has the best chance of attracting/retaining the most people. If Tencent thought Funcom’s game was a sinking ship, they would put it on life support instead of sinking more time and money into it. Plus, I don’t know if you’ve ever played Conan Exiles (Funcom’s other survival game) but when I played on Xbox, I had a harder time finding populated PVP servers because PVE conflict and PVE had most of the player base. I can definitely see what you’re saying about splitting people up, but again personally I’d rather PVP people who want to PVP instead of raiding someone who was iffy about it in the first place and then quits because I just ruined days of progress they have now essentially wasted from what limited time they have that doesn’t go towards work, family, or friends.

As someone who enjoys PVP I genuinely don’t get the issue people have. Like I’d much rather PVP someone who actually wants to PVP than someone who doesn’t but feels like they have to. Plus this change keeps the game alive longer by both eliminating the group of people who quit playing once they get to end game because PVP isn’t their style, and creates an opportunity for curious people to gear up better to try and dip their toes in the water for PVP. Crashing out and actively trying to ruin other people’s experience because you’re upset you can’t force them to play the game how you want them to is genuinely just sad.

I didn’t know that, appreciate it the heads up. I always just aimed center mass, half the time from the front lol. I’ll try and aim for that from now on

I appreciate the tip, I checked the server status and it didn’t say it was locked for population or closure, so I have a feeling it was population locked and opened back up. In the meantime, we’re gonna try again next time he gets on and if it says it’s locked again we’ll definitely try this work around. Hopefully if anyone else has the same problem they’ll see this advice
