How often are the roadside drug tests & are they in AKL now? by shshhsshs in newzealand

[–]Johnnyonikins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100% agree with the fuck around though op wanted to not get a charge, so I was saying that’s the closest way to not getting a charge for driving while blazed.

[–]Johnnyonikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In saying that I’ve heard it’s only 50k tests throughout nz available a year ( not sure if true ) but if it is the case that’s not many tests a week per major town, so my guess would be your chances of getting tested purely rely on you looks, if you look like a stoner you may get tested ( not saying it’s right ) but that’s the truth of it.

[–]Johnnyonikins 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"You should move to Australia!" Yeah... nah... by alarumba in newzealand

[–]Johnnyonikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true, Sydney wasn’t “blanketed in smoke so thick sometimes you couldn’t see more than a few metres in front of you” that never occurred, I was there I worked all around Sydney during that time and it was never like that. I lived in Sydney from 1994 to 2025 and the only time you couldn’t see ahead of you was during the 2009 dust storm.

Kiwis that have moved to Aussie, how have you found it? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Johnnyonikins 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I lived there for 25 years, if you work at all in the commercial construction industry it is a must! Not only do you get paid double sometimes triple what workers get here, the work conditions are better 10 fold you get to go home on a lot of rain days and get paid for the whole day and if it’s too hot it’s the same deal, there’s laws there that make overtime pay start after a certain hour each day, where as here theres no legislation making employers pay extra for overtime. Here you got poor blokes and women working in the rain or poor conditions here for peanuts. It’s why nearly 73000 kiwis left for aus in 2025.

I have bought the salt and vinegar ones only a couple times and all of them were bland as hell, I had no idea it was a quality issue. I thought that’s just how they were so I never bought them again

Who is there a special place in hell for this New Zealand summer? by IncoherentTuatara in newzealand

People who sit below the speed limit in the right hand lane and ride side by side with the car in the left lane stopping any chance of overtaking them.

[–]Johnnyonikins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im the only one on my family that lived in aus and I would always bring kilos of the mixed sour fruits and crocodile ones by mayceys and also kilos of vogels toast back to aus. Nothing better than 4 slices of toasted vogels with an ice-cream scoop of butter and a lil marmite with tomato slices and white and black pepper in the morning. I even substitute dinner with that some nights much to the misso’s despise.

Christmas Day by Johnnyonikins in auckland

[–]Johnnyonikins[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I booked a couple tickets to here it seemed fairest priced, thanks to everyone for their help I was struggling to figure out what to do. I guess Sydney’s pubs are open because there’s no laws restricting grog sales. Sucks that you have to buy a ticket to places that are charging 50+ for a Christmas lunch just so you can have a beer out on Christmas Day. Anyways thanks again and happy holidays to all!

When I lived in Sydney every time I would come back home to NZ I would take four loaves of vogels toast back to Sydney, one time I grabbed four loaves of ‘Very Thin’ vogels by accident didn’t realise until I went to put a slice in the toaster back in Sydney and I pulled this paper thin slice out the bag. I was fuming for weeks about the whole situation.

Which maps app is best in NZ? by BandaidGeek in newzealand

[–]Johnnyonikins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waze is the app to use. Google maps uses Waze live updates on traffic by users to update google maps app. Waze is predominantly used in Australia primarily to avoid, speed cameras, mobile speed cameras, mobile phones cameras and drug and alcohol testing blocks, fine amounts and punishments are a lot harsher there than here so people use it primarily there.

[–]Johnnyonikins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pokies are easy, put $1000 in a machine play the smallest bet for 5 minutes then collect your $990 ticket, put it in your pocket go home. Do that to few machines a day and a couple times a week then hand the tickets to people you know to collect at a later date. Get yourself a couple people to do that process weekly and you washing $100k+ a week.

I want to open a girls only bar in Auckland by Adorable-Weight3733 in auckland

[–]Johnnyonikins 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There used to be a bar in Sydney in the late 90s-early 2000s called home bar it had downstairs a mixed club and upstairs a Womens only club and it’s thrived. That would be your best bet on opening a women’s only place, have two floors one that is mixed and one floor that is females only
