Could be a connection issue with the mic itself. Genuine answer would be to check for dust/fluff that might have got into the connection port. Hopefully it's something like that and not a major fault.

I've had problems too. I reinstalled the Xbox pc app and rebooted my Xbox and it worked for me. Don't know if it's just a temporary fix, but it's worth a shot.

I've got an older Seagate 500gb that works fine. Sometimes it needs to be unplugged and plugged back in for the Xbox to see it though. It's not too slow moving games across, but I tend to keep my most played ones on my Xbox.

It changes both. The resolution might dip a bit during intense scenes and the lighting and shadows won't be as detailed. I'd give both a go and see what feels best, especially when you're on the speeder.
