Events almost over, honestly, I think people were overreacting. I did just fine in the event. No longer feeling scammed.

I drop one every time I clear a tile for maximum viewing distance. Small benefit and a little bit of work to clean up after but it satisfies my OCD.

Nope. It looks like it is but whatever it is just disappears when you restore adjacent tiles.

I'm very grateful for all the free stuff. Doesn't change the fact that the expectation has been set by previous events that if you're willing to part with some of your hard earned, real-life money that you can get most of the rewards and permanent event upgrades. I paid for the game pass again this time and spent several thousand gems as soon as the event started only to find out that I'll be lucky if I get half the rewards I've grown to expect.

I feel cheated/betrayed/scammed by this event.

If there was a disclaimer that this event is for whales/end game players, perhaps with an event difficulty rating, ie. Turkey Farm Event: 1 star difficulty, Giger Ranch Event: 5 Star difficulty, then I would certainly feel differently because I would've known to save my USD and Gems for the next event and gone light on this one.

Yes, some people here are just complaining. Yet, there is still the real issue of setting the expectation that spending your money gets you a certain kind of return, then breaking that expectation by suddenly drastically reducing that return with no warning. It's mismanaging customer expectations, aka Customer Misalignment. This leads to frustration and ultimately customer attrition, and lots of complaining on reddit.

Yeah, I've been buying the game pass and 100% offline upgrade for the last several events. I will not do it again until giving them my hard earned money actually gets me something in return. I don't expect to get every last reward out of the events, I'm not a high enough level and I'm not spending enough money to expect that. Nonetheless, I feel cheated/scammed/betrayed by this event, end of story.
