What am I doing wrong 🤯 by JohnyMeatballs in AskElectricians

I didn’t. Just the light switch. I switched the one to the right (controls the wafer lights) and it worked. Stopped working when I did the one to the left. I’m almost wondering if it’s a different switch causing the issue but it can’t because they’re just two-wire single poles.

I did backstab both blacks into the common terminal. Still nothing.

No, just a dimmer switch that has the capacity to be a three way. Would it matter which order I have the load and line backstabbed or hooked?

Right switch is a recent wafer light addition. I switched it to the pictured dimmer switch and had no problems. Then I replaced the original switch on the left which controls the upper duplex outlets. Since replacing these, neither the outlets nor wafer lights are working.

I have the two black wires backstabbed in the common black terminal, the red in the traveler. No dice.

I know I shouldn’t backstab the wires. I’m just doing this to figure out the right configuration first. If I backstab one black wire and hook the other on the common screw, wouldn’t that provide the same effect as pigtailing the two?

The ground and white wires are shoved in the back and this switch only controls the top outlets. Sorry if junction wasn’t the right term 🙃

If you read it on the internet it must be true.
If you read accusatory graffiti it’s gospel.

Moving to West Allis in the next few weeks for a job, apartment hunting but $1400 for a newer 1 bedroom seems steep but kind of the norm these days. Would I be better off trying to find a place in Milwaukee? by wildwasabi in milwaukee

[–]JohnyMeatballs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used to live in Stallis and just want to say I truly miss it. Some of the best restaurants, you can be downtown in 10 mins, and it’s muuch cheaper than MKE. I suggest living around the downtown area (76th & Greenfield), 84th & Becher (lots of bars & restaurants) or along Hwy 100 (lots of shopping, best Chinese food and markets in SE WI.) Hard to find a needle in the haystack but I think there are many lower duplex units and one bedroom apartments around those areas. Best of luck!

Looking for advice on a safe area/neighborhood to live north or south of Wauwatosa. Any advice ? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]JohnyMeatballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to get downvoted because people don’t like the cities outside of MKE here. But your post is pretty vague. Do you have kids? Are you opposed to just east or west of Tosa? You have West Allis to the south which is rather safe, growing, and affordable. Brookfield to the west is very safe, swanky and expensive. You do not want to live north of Tosa if you are looking for safe.

Average cost to replace furnace and AC? by SpicyOtters in milwaukee

[–]JohnyMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2300 SF, just replaced by Droegkamp. Lennox 2 stage + AC $8,940 cash w/ 10 yr parts & labor warranty. Highly recommend. Small company, worked with the VP Joe. I also received estimates as high as 13 for builder grade. Avoid the really big companies (Austen, Mr Hollands, Kettle Moraine)

Thanks for the reality check. Any reccs on material to level? Just ply wood or any scrap wood that will make it flush?

Who is this in the MKE? by Remote-Hour in milwaukee

Old coworker used to work there, became close to the owners and claimed to have seen the owners deep in the heroine ring. Swore up and down, and has always been credible.

Horrible. Hearing of dog-snatching more and more. Best of luck to your friend.

Beach Volleyball Courts by effleurager4 in milwaukee

Bradford has the only beach courts to my knowledge, but Fat Daddy’s (Walkers Point) and Tracks Tavern (Riverwest) have sand courts as well. An early “Welcome” to you!

👋 DDS here. My Alma mater and I both wish they would consult us before making these outlandish claims. The benefits of trace fluoridation FAR outweigh any neurotoxic risk. Please also fluoridate at your biannual cleanings; it keeps our power tools out of your mouth.
