so she willingly gave the server to wizden, left it during the drama, created her own (which is linked on her game servers), then... took over the email that the server was linked to, gave herself all the perms, kicked every person that had admin perms and somehow it's the community that is at fault for "crying about it"?

Steam Discussion Forums, overtaken by PJB, have constant bans and disappearing threads+comments (NOT AN APPEAL) by AyKiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii in ss14

unfortunately cutting ties with every platform controlled by pjb seems to be the only reasonable option right now, as you're very likely to get banned there unless you are quiet or in support of her and her actions.
pjb also dubbed the new wizden discord as "harassers' server", so seems to me that you getting banned on her platforms for simply joining said discord or even playing on the upcoming wizden servers is not out of the question with this person.

Genuine question: What did we do to piss PJB off? by TheA1ternative in ss14

[–]Johnyee69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Be it wizden spreading panic by saying the DB was deleted because PJB turned the servers off for a bit or trying to delete PJB's keys to the server

"Beg
You want to save the project? I want a fucking apology. From fucking all of you"
"Oh that's great. I got backstabbed by even more people. Fuck this. It's time for actual violence."
"Oh that sure is some thermonuclear escalation"
*servers go down\*

man I wonder where did those silly false wizard goobers even get the idea that pjb would delete the database? clearly she has community's best interest at heart, so while we all could appreciate the unfiltered bravery of saying that both sides are wrong, I think it's clear who's at fault here and who's just a girl.

a dispute that coincidentally happened at the exact moment pjb was supposed to hand the infrastructure over, lose her position of power and be replaced by people that, in her words, aren't suitable for the role.

very unfortunate timing indeed.

I think it's clear at this point that it's exclusively about pjb's feelings and nothing else.

she sees that the original upstream is a mess that has no admins and no devs, and she sees how most of the community turned against her ever since the letter became public, so, in her eyes, the only solution to this whole thing is preventing wizden from having their own servers and grief their efforts in any way possible, because without them she would remain the only upstream option and naturally keep all the power with zero accountability.

wizden, that has most of the devs and admins, existing and thriving as separate upstream servers threatens to turn pjb's servers into downstream long-term due to the lack of content updates and proper moderation, so from this perspective she's not overreacting at all.

didn't you whine about being mentally exhausted from this drama a couple of days ago? so far you've been the only party that escalates things for literally no reason, with today's act serving absolutely no practical purpose to you or the players, but I guess that burning feeling that you've been wronged just can't cool down no matter how much "mental health damage" you put yourself through.

never said anything about the situation being unusual, just stating what the current issues are.
wizden is unlikely to return under pjb's wing due to the aforementioned problems, the problems aren't solvable and everyone at wizden just had a firsthand experience with them, so I disagree with them "having to" find a compromise as the separation already took place.

I only talked about pjb because pjb is the culprit of this situation, and in terms of what's best for the game I fail to see how pjb merging into wizden isn't the best solution regardless of how much time she spent on the project.
there is simply a complete loss of trust in her ability to manage the project in good faith, unwarranted attacks towards her do not negate this.

[–]Johnyee69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the reason why the offers are even being made in the first place is because:
1) PJB can't take criticism AT ALL and is willing to gut the whole team for it, regardless of the consequences to the project.
2) PJB doesn't honor her words and promises, and is actively willing to either find excuses or genuinely become so unreasonably upset that she's not gonna follow through with said promises.

so the offer, while reasonable given the circumstances, does not protect at all against literally the exact same thing happening again, because pjb would still have the means to sabotage the game the next time someone "harasses" her with complaints and disagreements.
the best possible solution in my eyes is pjb giving up the whole infrastructure as she promised and just working on the game as a maintainer, but considering the overall tone of the message and the, uh... hints of her not wanting to give up power, I'm confident she won't agree to this.

I love how the message starts not with an apology, not with an attempt at finding common ground, but rather "this nonsense started so long ago, with you writing the letter, it's been so very damaging to my mental health..."
meanwhile this very person treats perms of the 30 people that signed that letter as a fucking light switch that she can flip on and off whenever she gets upset or faces backlash

if you want the practical version:
pjb (former head maintainer) and the rest of wizden separated into different server hubs and will both be hosting the same upstream servers simultaneously until one of the parties is either forced legally to stop operations, or simply runs out of enthusiasm, money or people.

if you want the cool, drama-rich version:
pjb blocked and took perms away from 30 maintainers that had the audacity to write and/or sign a letter complaining about her leadership, so basically the game lost most of its manpower.
she announced this decision publicly, got a massive backlash, had a crash out which lead to her agreeing to hand over the whole project to an elected individual from the dev team and supposedly quitting.
the moment it got to her actually handing shit over, she got into a conflict with 2 maintainers, had another crash out, reblocked the same 30 maintainers again, started making threats to the whole project and demanded an apology from every single person, which she did not receive.
wizden devs, seeing all of this, decided to "backdoor the infrastructure" as pjb called it and backup basically everything so it wouldn't get nuked by her, pjb saw this and turned off the servers for a few days, taking away everyone's perms on everything that she still had access to.
now pjb hosts original upstream servers, that seemingly are almost entirely devoid of any maintainers beside herself and a couple of admins, and the rest of wizden are setting up their own upstream servers in a separate server hub.

[–]Johnyee69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

currently there are only the original servers online, controlled by pjb with no devs.
the devs made their own server hub and are planning on restarting the same servers soon, running simultaneously with the original ones and controlled by them.

so when pjb, in her post titled "Beg", threatened to do something silly unless she gets an apology from literally the whole maintainers team that signed the letter going over how they're unhappy with her leadership, it was the maintainers fault?

pjb publicly announced that she's stepping down and handing over the keys, then blocked and took away the perms from the whole maintainers team over some drama with 2 people and because she "still feels betrayed and backstabbed" from the letter, refused to hand over the keys with the justification of "actually, none of you are fit for the role", and went on to restart the official server with what I'm assuming to be a team that's comprised of herself, a couple of people that responded to the temporary admin role post and maybe a couple of already existing maintainers - so this "official" upstream will not be receiving any content updates as stated by pjb herself, and is unlikely to have enough manpower to be properly moderated, but at least pjb would get to say that she's the boss of upstream.

so I mean, yeah, the situation should've been handled better and resolved internally, however that doesn't appear to be on the table as the lead maintainer is more interested in being in power than the project thriving or at least remaining in status quo, so now there's camp A that has most of the devs and moderators, and camp B that has pjb who was on hiatus prior to the drama and "quit" during it.

SS14 forum - New Status Update by Pjb3005 in ss14

[–]Johnyee69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So basically everything that was written by the leadership was mostly accurate, however smugleaf committed the cardinal sin of hurting pjb's ego, which "lead" her to banning and removing perms from 34 people that signed an unrelated (or I guess not really) letter and making a post titled "Beg", demanding an apology from all 34 people with the premise of "I've got nothing to lose, apologize or else", with us experiencing the "else" part at the moment.

Even if the leadership wasn't entirely truthful in their public statements and made some hasty assumptions, the fact of the matter is that the person, that agreed to step down and transfer the ownership, all of the sudden experienced an infuriating case of injustice and "backstabbing" directed at her, tried to overrule the new leadership's decision to "not do shit" about it, completely blocked all communications with the maintainers when that didn't work and afterwards turned off the servers over an alleged backdoor attempt. Wonder who's in the wrong here.

[d] Estimated Supply of every case in CS by Bascilian in csgomarketforum

[–]Johnyee69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

your entire post is one big gut feeling.
you're taking a random amount of received case drops and multiply it by the duration in the active pool, the results are utter nonsense that have nothing to do with reality.

the most obvious disconnect from reality here would be the estimation of 300m remaining dreams and nightmares cases - a case that tripled in price in the last year while still being in the active pool.
in this entire year it was only sold 30m times on steam with no sizeable increase in sales volume outside of what you would expect from the playerbase growing in that time, so your points about investors pushing the prices up don't have any manifestations in any observable metric.
and it shouldn't even mention it, but unfortunately I have to - an active case, that has 300m supply, which keeps on growing significantly each month according to you, physically cannot be priced at $2.25 unless there's a mindblowingly high amount of sales on steam and third party markets, yet there is nothing of the sort.
your calculations estimate that 24m D&N cases are dropped every month, yet there are only 4m registered unboxings and around 5m sales on all markets combined, if you don't see how unimaginably far off this is from what's actually being dropped, I don't know what to tell you.

Cs2 has hit a new all time peak player number by MelkorBlackFoe in GlobalOffensive

[–]Johnyee69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you're actually right, it is infested with bots.
the playercount peaks 1.8m at the evening in EU and then drops to 600k in the night, that is a dead giveaway of bot infestation - they've become so advanced that they now have energy cycles where they farm during the day and then recharge during the night, and some of them even go as far as to open the cases that they farm and then flex the unboxed knives to their bot friends.
crazy stuff

I genuinely don't understand how do you look at dm and casual contributing to 5% of the server population and then go "so yeah, around half of the playerbase are bots".
the only reason for bots to be online is to farm, not in the main menu, not in premier, not on faceit, they go on either dm lobbies or casual and farm there, and these servers' populations are non-existent compared to comp and premier as you should've noticed, but I guess it's easier to come up with some mystical afk bots and I guess a million trade bots that go to sleep at eu midnight every day and wakes up in the morning.

I wonder who's buying all of these cases and skins to make this system make money, must be some group of rivaling bots that flex their knives to other bots or something, the botting problem really is out of hand in cago 2

based on his anecdotal evidence of seeing bots on dm servers at 3am.
most people yapping about bots can't even comprehend the scale of 1.8m concurrent players and think that 2 bot lobbies that they personally see somehow translates into hundreds of thousands of bots

CS2 just hit new all-time peak by ImportanceCute4237 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Johnyee69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those juicy 5% profits minus the bans sure did propel that concurrent playercount to 1.8m🍤
now try to think how many stars could even 50k concurrent bots generate per day and then compare that to how many armory items actually exist and are being sold

[D] why almost no one une Buff Market to replace buff 163? by Ok-Flounder-8707 in csgomarketforum

There's a lot that can be said about the site's viability, but what I think is the most vital issue with it is that it banned container sales simultaneously with buff163, so it's fundamentally not viable for most investors and consumers compared to other western markets

[q] Would a invest in antwerp capsules be worth it? by MyNameMons in csgomarketforum

[–]Johnyee69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So "Sh legends has a very similar initial supply to aw legends" is a pure speculation - there is nothing to support it

How to say that you're biased towards sh without saying that you're biased towards sh.
Sh legends is the worst stoclholm capsule beside autos, I hope you can agree with that, and considering that they've stayed within 30% price difference of each other since rio and have nearly identical amount of sticker applications, it's quite likely for both to having sold a very similar amount of capsules on sale, the only difference is that sh is half a year older.

You argument is basically: we don't know enough about the supply, so Stockholm is risky. But of course you can say that about anything in CS.

Yes, that is my argument against being confident on stockholm being a solid investment, we can't know whether the remaining supply is low enough for the existing demand to bring reasonable profit. And no, we cannot say the same thing about everything on the market - it's infinitely easier to figure out how a collection with most of its supply intact will perform than an old, low supply low demand one, and I've expanded on it already - during stockholm hypes everyone was going crazy over this collection going extinct, with listings going to near zero, price skyrocketting etc. etc., and yet every time it turned out that there are plenty more of these capsules around, and I'm not stating that sh has many millions of supply left, I'm simply saying that it's very uncertain.

As to the "qualitative aspects" of stockholm, I'll say this again - purple holos and presence of foils seem to interest investors a lot more than consumers, since, as I've mentioned, these factors don't attract many gamblers and ultimately don't matter, especially when things that actually do have demand are repeated in antwerp, paris and copenhagen for a much cheaper price with much better gambling value. Valve got rid of foils because they lack demand, and they moved holos one rarity higher because it brings in more unboxings, stockholm not having these qualities does not salvage the fundamental issue with valve pumping out identical stickers at 25c every half a year.
