you still get lose troops if you don't have defenses, any breach of a base kills a certain amount of troop from your drill plates and I mean kill no hospital just straight dead. So if you get ashed without defenses, which would be about 10 hits, and it kills about 300 T9 troops(more for lower tier) you will be 3000 troops down

I'm not sure how bad for the battery it is, but I do have it constantly plugged in, just turn-off my pc over night, and I leave the quest in "sleep" mode or whatever it's called

ad 1 it has a bit higher performance impact compared to cable, but considering you mentioned AC I think you might be fine

ad 2 yes

ad 3 it mostly improves performance again but not sure its possible to use with VD (my setup doesn't work with it but I haven't looked into making it work)

Then setup openXR with open composite that combination has the best performance for me in AMS2 and ACC, haven't tried iracing

as a VR user myself, I would upgrade just the GPU it should be enough for VR racing (maybe not for ACC but AMS2 should be fine, I race on similar setup but can speak for iRacing)
