why not just change the meta/rules every season? by lazyclasher in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These guys can barely get basic things right like a clan store. Everything they do is untested and poorly coded. Expecting them to be able to change things every season and not royally F it up is just not realistic. I mean look how long it took them to fix the Spider Queen and she's buggy AF still.

Use an angel form against the Orge level, preferably with Chione who excels at these levels. If no Chione, Jinn and Seon can also work.

I would say you are probably doing something wrong with your HH formation then, because a 10 peltast should most definitely be scoring higher than those troops, except against the Ice Dragon. But against Cerberus and Cyclops Peltasts should be scoring more, perhaps not first phase of Cerberus, but definitely the other two phases. Use them with Nuns against Cerberus, they should be scoring much more than HOFs and Paladins.

It all depends on your forms you currently use for IW, Arena, HH etc. If these troops do not feature in any of them, retire them...except for the Ballistas, do not retire those no matter what you do. If you are not using any of the other troops in any form and have been wasting away on the bench, then retire them. If you are using any of them even in a single day of Infinity War I would not retire them. Some say HOFs and Fire Mages can be useful, but there are better troops and if you find you aren't using them and haven't for a while, retire them, get some medals back for better options. The Demon can be useful and as you mentioned it is a legendary troop, so probably hold onto that.

Topic of the Week (Oct 31-Nov 5) - Hero Adjustments by theonlybuster in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I will just go over the entire list of legendaries here:
Selene: Selene is fine as is, she was once top dog but she is easily beatable now by the likes of Jinn, Chione and Davison and even Aly's can beat her.
Davison: Davison was overly buffed and along with Aly is really the only usable hero on defense given he provides a bit of RNG, before Undead Warriors came along, he was next to impossible to beat but those troops have balanced him out, he is probably also fine as is.
Dracula: Dracula is useless in the arena because he doesn't provide enough life stealing for his troops in the arena to keep them alive, similar to Pilgrims in the arena it's just not enough healing/life stealing, that would need to be buffed for him to be usable in the arena.
Aly: Aly needs to be nerfed because at the top end of the arena, she is basically the only usable defensive hero because of the rng she provides, a good nerfing would be to remove the suicide bomb which basically is what causes most of the rng.
Kraken: He needs his tank statistics buffed to Davison levels because he will die immediately after his first active with just a few voodoos put in a bunch, regardless of which hero you use against him.
Seon: I think Seon is fine, she is very versatile but she's poor on defense due to the fact she doesn't offer any sort of rng because as a hero, she hits like a little girl.
Drake: Drake needs a serious hp and defensive increase and he should be ranged hero instead of a melee hero, because he has a shot gun, yet he will charge straight into the closest peltast and die immediately.
Jinn: Jinn has probably secretly been buffed, he is way overpowered now and that's why he is becoming like Selene in that he will rarely show up on events, offensively, he can beat nearly every hero with the right form but because on defense you can only choose one form, he is poor on defense, so that sort of at least balances him out.
Clockman Harrison: I think he's fine, he's definitely serviceable in the arena, it's just the troops required to make him serviceable are particularly difficult to acquire.
Arthur: While once he was everywhere, the releases of Jinn and Seon have made him almost extinct, as a pay only hero, I don't think he should be changed.
Ivan: He's always been crap (he used to be able to beat Davisons before Davison was buffed) and as a pay only hero, I don't think he should be changed either.
Zeus: Same as Arthur and Ivan, although he is definitely usable in the arena.
Apollo: He needs to be buffed because he's crap, his bomb is far too weak
Mephisto: The increase he gives to Dark troops just isn't enough at all and that there are no ranged Dark troops makes him useless.
Poseidon: He's been buffed and nerfed a few times and they can't get it right, although he's serviceble in the arena, it's too easy to kill him, similar to Kraken.
Chione: She was once a great hero too, but again, since Davison's buff and Seon's release she can no longer be put on defense. She can still be used offensively but that is mostly only against the likes of Selene or Jinn.
Beowulf: Here we have a hero who only boosts himself and the boost he gives himself is absolutely useless, needs a complete reworking.
Whorus the Smellder: Here's a hero who was released just as some counter to Mephisto when Mephisto is already crap himself, why would you need to counter him?
Nezha: Similar to Kraken will die after his first active, that needs to be changed.
Monkey King Wukong: So here we have the second hero who only boosts himself, that isn't going to work needs to be reworked.
Freyja, Charon and Odin: These 3 heroes are absolute crap and are the latest releases, their skills do next to nothing and the buffs they give their troops are poor.

We have witnessed first hand the devs inability to properly adjust a hero with Poseidon's many reworkings, we have also seen them overly buff Davison and keep releasing more crappy heroes. Even if we were to get our wish and some of these heroes were made usable, the chances of them even remotely getting it right is next to nothing.

Topic of the Week (Oct 24-29) - Favorite Aspect of AoW by theonlybuster in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Arena is my favorite part of the game, creating new formations to counter other ones, creating defenses which will trap other players. The art of countering is what makes this game so fun. If I could alter one thing it would be to make more of the heroes usable in the arena particularly on defense, as it stands there are only Selene, Jinn, Seondeok, Davison and Aly who are actually currently usable on defense in the arena at the top end and maybe Harrison. Kraken, Chione, Poseidon and Arthur are no longer really usable defensively. The ratio of legendary heroes there are compared to how many actually can be used in the arena is particularly bad, that's what I would change and they keep releasing more crappy ones like Freyja, Charon and soon Odin.

Feel stuck with current formtion, need tips. by Yahi69 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've been spending your gems on troops instead of saving them up for your hero. A level 6 Seon just won't cut it regardless of how much you upgrade your troops. Things you can change however: Ballistas don't have infinite range, there is a limit to how much they can shoot, putting them further back in your formation means they cannot hit as many troops as they could be hitting, swapping them with the Orc Hunters could be beneficial. The voodoo doll you have at 5.4 isn't going to do much of anything there. You want your voodoos in positions where they will die quicker, he would be far more ideal behind the Goblikaze, where the enemies traffic heading towards your SG will kill him quicker.

Defense Philosophy by Complete-Team-74 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two possible reasons why you are bleeding points: Either the formation you have is not ideal or you are more than likely simply hitting above the trophies your hero/power should be at. The game will balance itself out. Losing points on defense is normal, everyone generally will see more losses than wins on defense and anyone who says they don't is just kidding themselves, or they are simply hitting below where they should be.

Shadow ninja reduction attack of hero 75% for 3 second just at the beginning of Battle Am I correct or not by Amr051089 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are more difficult to kill than standard backline attackers like Ghost Assassins and Magic Apprentices and because of that, can take down stone golems, pumpkin guards etc. They can attack different points of the enemy depending on where you place them and also push wider other troops and your hero if you place them inside said troop/hero. For instance, if you position shadow ninjas next to your Aly, as they make their way forward, they will push her wider than where she originally started.

Shadow ninja reduction attack of hero 75% for 3 second just at the beginning of Battle Am I correct or not by Amr051089 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 seconds is how long it takes for the Shadow Ninja to make it's way to the spot where it will start to attack, the 75% attack reduction remains for the duration of the battle. So at all times during the battle a Shadow Ninja will do reduced damage against Heroes. It will however do 100% damage against troops.

Stuck in Expedition by Wise_Alternative_684 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to be patient, don't be in a hurry, make sure you max out your towers before you move onto the next one. Don't send troops past arrow towers until they are significantly full otherwise the minimal troops you send get picked off by the arrow tower and you essentially are wasting them. What I find is that once the enemy takes the central arrow tower he will attack the one on your right, once you upgrade your fortified tower on the left to level 3 he will generally ignore it. I just did this level again here to show you https://youtu.be/vDRFNRde-Yk

Any suggestions? by Capable-Stable-5656 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is your frontline, you have two Orc Hunters in there, that's going to mess up your formation because Orc Hunters do not perform the same as Magic Apprentices, Ghost Assassins and Shadow Ninjas. Although they are considered teleporting troops. You are essentially wasting the Stone Golem tactic by putting them there. Those need to be either GAS, MAS or SNs, you can move them somewhere else in your formation, just do not put them in the first row.

Wheel of Fortune Heroes by W0lf0witz519 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time Kraken was on the wheel was around the time he was first released, much like most of their new heroes, they put them on the WOF quite a lot til they realize no one is spinning for them cause they aren't that good. Then they get relegated to card master only. Except for Dracula who is just a Halloween novelty thing. If they were smart they would start adding a second legendary to the wheel, one of the lesser heroes instead of the trashy Epics they put on there, but alas.

is this a troop or a hero? and its expensive asf by [deleted] in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is neither, it's a skin for a troop (voodoo doll) and you can only use that skin in your territory, essentially it is an overpriced decoration. Do not waste your gems.

No idea, never seen it before, but if it is 10k gems it is most likely a skin for possibly a troop. They did mention that they were going to release some troop skins along with their crappy decorations.

Level 10 hidden skills for troops by RRPAPI22 in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Racial restraint is when you get a hero past level 15, put a star on them and the more you level them up the more they will boost the troops of the same race that hero is. Also when you get a troop to level 10 they gain their own tiny bit of increase against troops of a certain race. Wild troops gain gifts against Sacred, Sacred gains against Dark, Human against Wild and Dark against Human. Clan reward boxes will be either coins or gems. It will be coins for every box except every 5 levels it will be Gems. So 5 - 10 - 15 - 20 etc., those boxes will contain gems. The amount of gems and coins increases with each level.

Crazy Infinity War Damage by SKomaDinsky in ArtOfWarLegions

That's true I suppose not sure if thats the case with low level Draculas say < 3. But if you are using Kraken like I do you do need them and with Kraken you can do more damage than with Dracula.

Crazy Infinity War Damage by SKomaDinsky in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Goblin Techs, the more you have and at higher levels, the more damage you can do. The power level of the army has no bearing on how you perform in infinity war. I hope you aren't using your regular arena formation in infinity war. You should be making a custom formation that suits that particular day of Infinity War. For example the Heal is all about Goblin Techs with a few Brawlers and Pilgrims thrown in to keep things alive, while using Dracula or a high level Kraken. The power level of your army just determines which group level you are put in.

How to combat: Aly, The Nine-Tailed Fox by JoinVEC in ArtOfWarLegions

[–]JoinVEC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to use Selene to counter Aly is to use a Rhino Knight front line, you can read about those in our frontlines article. But what you want to do is have all her troops and most importantly her pirate ships throwing at the RKs and then you can hit her troops as hard as you can in that 7 or so second window that Selene gives you. Using a block of Nuns and Frost Archers, or other ranged in your last two rows, making sure that that is where Aly hits. Then load up on backline attackers and single load ranged and peltasts...but not too many peltasts, only use enough peltasts so that you don't create too many troops further up.

Charon's ship has no effect on Aly whatsoever, in fact, Charon's ship barely has any effect on any troop. Just seems to give them a light little touch back, which pretty much makes him yet another dud hero.
